The Drawing Room is inside the Prince of Wales Hotel. We have been wanted to try their High Tea Service for a while, and finally we had the time to go.
Our waitress was wonderful and explained the trays to us in detail.
They have a limited options for tea flavours. Tea is served in large mismatched teapots, they looked very cool.
The food tray had a variety of sandwiches and treats. Scones were hot and tasty.
The smoked salmon and the cucumber sandwiches had a very thin layer of filling and were very dry. The egg sandwiches were quite tasty though. And the hummus tart was okay.
Overall the ambience was lovely and charming.
One comment, we ask the hostess for window tables when we arrived but we were told that we had to specify in the reservation that we wanted to sit next to a window. However, then I overheard the other hostess saying to another group who had requested for window table in their reservation that they can’t reserve a table beside the window. It was a bit confusing
It also felt like they only set up the table when guests arrived. We waited and also saw few guests stand and wait for the table to be ready even though those tables were empty for a while.
All in all, it was a good experience.
What a fun experience! I also found my new favourite tea.
Lovely food, even more lovely servers and overall fun a s fancy experience!
Lovely experience - can’t wait to go back
I brought a guest from overseas to the Prince of Wales Tea Room expecting a charming, upscale experience. What we got was an embarrassment. Despite having a reservation, we weren’t seated until 2:15 PM, and by 2:20, no one had taken our drink order. The staff were cold and disinterested—the hostess gave a curt “thank you for your patience” with no smile or sincerity.
To make it worse, the pillow on my chair was still squished from the previous guest—no one even had the decency to fluff it. That tiny detail summed up the whole experience: lazy, inattentive, and far from the elegance they pretend to offer. We left without being served. Save your time and money
Afternoon tea at The Drawing Room inside the Prince of Wales was an absolutely charming experience that exceeded all expectations. The elegance of the space is undeniable, deeply rooted in the rich history of the hotel. From the moment you approach the building, the Victorian style captivates you—it's like stepping back in time, in the most beautiful way.
Inside, the tea room is tastefully decorated with vintage touches that carry through from the furniture to the table settings. Every detail, from the delicate teapots to the fine china, oozes old-world English charm. It truly felt like a classic English tea experience.
The food and tea were simply amazing. Each tier of the afternoon tea was beautifully presented, from the exquisite finger sandwiches to the decadent desserts. The cheese and fruit plates were perfectly curated and balanced. And the scones? Absolutely to die for—warm, flaky, and served with all the right accompaniments.
We were lucky to have Brooklyn as our server, and her service was nothing short of exceptional. She was attentive, warm, and added such a personal touch to our visit.
At $55 per person, this experience is a true treat and worth every penny. If you're looking for an elegant afternoon tea steeped in Victorian charm, The Drawing Room at the Prince of Wales is a must-visit.
We came over from another Vintage Hotel property in the area for their scheduled tea tasting event, and had an absolutely wonderful experience with Victoria as our server. She was knowledgeable about the tea, friendly, and a real treat to accompany the tasting. Based on this experience, we will definitely consider staying at the Prince of Wales and trying the High Tea next time we're in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Good experience, good tea and food but a little on the pricey side.
We arrived for our 3:30 pm reservation for 5 people at 3:25pm. We were seated, then not served anything -not even water was offered. Our server Shannon finally appeared after 40 minutes to take our order. Nothing was brought to our table for another 20 minutes still not even water. When tea service finally arrived, there were no check ins from our server at all. We even had to go to the front to request our bill as no one checked on us the entire time. This was supposed to be a lovely experience and we left very disappointed. Not something I would expect from on of the Vintage hotels. This experience was not at all what we had hoped for and we will not be back nor will we recommend high tea at the drawing room.
Me and my sister always have such a pleasure coming here :) Thank you for going above and beyond to Lauren (i think that was her name) and being so nice and professional with us. Hope to see you next time when we’re back!
The server was friendly and I liked the charcuterie. I was otherwise very disappointed by the taste of the food on the tiered tray, and the dining experience could have been better. My wife really doesn't want to ever return, and I unfortunately don't think it was worth the price coming here. There are better options for high tea in the area.

Strongly recommend the afternoon tea experience. The setting is absolutely gorgeous and fairytale like.. the staff are very friendly and the pastries and sandwiches were tasty.. my girls aged 11 and 6 had a great time and my mom as well!
The Drawing Room is inside the wonderful Prince of Wales Hotel. We wanted to try their High Tea Service, I am glad we did but I am not sure we would return for this service.
Our waitress was wonderful and explained the trays well to us. But she was quite busy and didn’t come back to check on us until we had been done for about 10 minutes or so.
They have a limited options for tea flavours, less choices than other places we’ve tried. We both chose different green teas which were tasty. Tea is served in large mismatched teapots, they were very cool looking.
The food tray had a variety of sandwiches and treats.
The sandwiches were tasty but just ok. We wished we had have seen the full selection before booking as these were not flavours we enjoyed.
The smoked salmon and the cucumber sandwiches had a very thin layer of something on them but unfortunately it didn’t help make them more moist.
The egg sandwiches were quite tasty though. Sadly the biscuits had yellow raisins in them which we could not eat.
I am glad we tried it and can confirm the service is priced fairly based on others we have tried.
My husband booked us a reservation for our 5th wedding anniversairy. Shannon was our hostess who was fantastic! She provided helpful suggestions for tea options (heavenly cream & peaches and cream) which were sooo good. Baked goods and sandwhiches were amazing. We only ate half we were so full! Shannon even gave us complimentary tea samples. Thanks so much Shannon :)
Vibe was friendly and fun!! Highly recommend.
Very overpriced for the quality of the food. pastries were not fresh, service was ok. And do not expect much for “candlelight high tea” what it means is that they dim the lights a little and put one small restaurant candle on the table. The place is cute however, definitely not worth 65 dollars per person !
As a high tea enthusiasts, this pales in comparison to other establishments. Too bad, beautiful location. Service was great. Food was terrible. Stale dry bread for cucumber sandwiches and salmon. Old croissants for egg salad, cream for scones had gone bad, humus tart looked and tasted like it was made the day before. Definitely not fresh. Fruits we not ripe nor in season. Breton crackers served with cheese plate. I would have expected much better, laughable from a vintage inn for high tea. Made supervisor aware, said he would let the kitchen know and that was the end of it. Really need to elevate the experience definitely not worth the drive.
