The Kaboom Cheese bomb pizza was too salty and even the cheese isn't same the picture on the menu. The cheese taste wasn't good that I expected...The cheese didn’t stretch one bit, it was just salty. The honey dipping sauce wasn't cover the salty at all. It might be different perspective but if u really pizza lover, I don't recommend this pizza.
Also I ordered Japanese port katsu. It was good taste but the sauce too small amount and it looked like pudding. It seemed like just from the refrigerator...I didn't really like it.

Used to rlly enjoy the crab meat croquettes and the katsu, tho the last time we went we ended up going to the washroom one after the other cuz of diarrhea after the tteokbokki…

The dine in is perfect. Cash 13% off for dine in and lunch offer is very good, but the takeout experience was just okay: We got promo pork katsu combo on uber, and expected to get 2 miso soups, but we only got one(which somehow leaked) and no utensils( we requested them)

I love katsuya and will be coming back for dine-in, but takeout seems off since you never know what will come.

“This is one of the most authentic katsu-don I’ve had outside Japan.” The closest thing to Japanese katsu-don I’ve found. Meat was tender and katsu was crunchy. I ordered the set of 2 pcs Japanese loin katsu (size was kinda large), rice, salad and unlimited miso soup for the price of $10.99. Authentic, very filling and satisfying. We’ll definitely go back soon to try out other dishes.

Had dinner here and everything was awesome! The chicken katsu was super crispy and juicy — perfect comfort food. The cheese crabmeat croquette was creamy and delicious, and the fries were hot and crunchy. We also tried the veg supreme pizza, and it was surprisingly really good — fresh toppings and great flavor.

The vibe was cozy, the service was friendly, and the food came out pretty quick. Overall, a great spot for dinner in North York. Totally recommend it! 🍴😋

Food was mid at best. I ordered the Japanese katsu and the “special tomato sauce” turned out to be straight-up Heinz ketchup. So yeah, $25 for katsu and ketchup 💀. Service was just as bad. The waiter gave me the wrong change, laughed about it with coworkers in Korean, and another waitress silently fixed it like it was a daily occurrence.

This place is going downhill. Donkatsu that is no longer crispy and the rice is overdone and soggy. The quality of the meat is there but the cooking is not being managed correctly. No wonder customers are all ordering and eating pizza instead. And it’s pretty obvious why people are leaning towards Brown Donkatsu now.

Katsuya is a great place for Japanese comfort food that always hits the spot. The katsu is crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with rich, flavorful sauces that make every bite satisfying. The portions are generous, and the presentation is clean and thoughtful. The staff are friendly, the service is quick, and the atmosphere feels modern yet cozy. It’s the perfect place when you’re craving a hearty, well-made meal that tastes fresh every time.

This isn't the Katsuya food quality I'm accustomed to. They might be cutting costs, but it's affecting the quality negatively for instance the sauce.

Katsuya - Summer Promo Combos Worth Trying

Promo: Summer event - up to 50% off select combos ($9.85 each!)
Valid Mon-Fri, 12-5 PM at North York location only

When I go: yesterday Friday - Weekday lunch at 1:15 PM (July 2025), it’s full and we waited for 25mins for the food to come!
Who: Two people

Food
We tried both summer special combos:
1. Regular Combo - Buckwheat cold noodles + 2 shrimp tempura
2. Loin Katsu Combo - Buckwheat cold noodles + loin katsu

Noodles: Fresh and springy, served cold (without ice) in a sweet-and-sour broth that was balanced and flavourful -- great for those who prefer cold noddles during Summer. I feel like my body want a hot noddles still.

Shrimp Tempura: Nicely battered and well-made, though served not piping hot. Dipping sauce for shrimp was a standout!

Loin Katsu: Thin-cut, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and lean (no fat) -- great if you prefer a lighter cut, but might not satisfy those who enjoy thick, fatty katsu.

Katsu Sauce: Delicious and elevated the fried dish -- definitely a highlight.

For the Interior, Seating, Lighting and Pricing:
Atmosphere: Casual, clean, and spacious -- two guests could sit comfortably at a 4-person table.

Lighting: Adequate for a weekday lunch, no harsh glare.

Pricing: Incredible value during promo -- $9.85 per combo is unbeatable for what you get. But one thing, there was a slightly unpleasant smell noticed upon entry, possibly from cleaning cloths or table wraps.

Overall Value & Tips
Worth it? Yes during the summer promo window. For original, it depends.

Tip: Go before 5 PM (Mon-Fri only), and visit the North York location -- other branches may not offer the same deal.

Best for: Lunch breaks, casual weekday meetups, someone nearby or if you're craving katsu on a budget and those who are nearby!

Have you tried Katsuya's summer promo yet? Let me know your favorite combo--or if you prefer your katsu fatty or lean!

Visited on Thursday for the Oven Baked Wings special ($0.99 per piece), only to find out it's cash only. But the worst part? You're limited to just 10 pieces—and that restriction isn't posted anywhere.

I specifically ordered a menu item that was noted to not contain any pork. After I was halfway through my meal I asked about some questionable pieces of meat that were in the dish and the server told me that it was pork. I told her I specifically ordered this item because it doesn’t contain pork. She looked confused and spoke to another staff and informed me that their menus weren’t updated. The server didn’t even offer to remake or comp the item. Will not be returning here.
