I went in today at 12:08pm I asked if there was food the girl was very rude and said it will be ready at 12:15pm so I said when its ready I need 2 small food the girl had the knife in her hand preparing the cabbage drops the knife her shoulders and says to me LEAVE i can't take the stress I was so surprised im a PAYING CUSTOMER asking questions about how to BUY and if she in a bad mood I dont know but got attitude for being a PAYING CUSTOMER asking questions so i ask to speak with the OWNER she tells me shes the owner if she is her business wont last long especially if she opens 12:15pm that soudds like a made up time like who opens at the 15min of the hour???...im jamaican as well and these are the reason why our people are stagnant in businesses they have no customer service especially jamaican restaurants they act like the customer is bothering them by trying to by food (I've seen memes on this) im a business owner as well I own a barber shop downtown toronto for the last 6 years and to operate and have a successful business downtown you have to have great customer service and be a people person. All I habe to say after this experience i will never go back they have a lot of different locations with different owners the cloaes one is at Eglington and Oakwood im going there now and never coming back to Duffrin locations by Yorkdale Mall

I understand you don’t want to waste money in this economy but you CANNOT serve customers inedible food they are spending their hard earned money on!!!!
The curry goat was extremely salty and not edible. You must have tasted the food beforehand so why would you serve it? So disappointing.
Never ever again.
Also, get a debit machine and clean up the establishment! Sad.

The customer service at this location was on point when I visited yesterday. As for the food I can't say the same. We had jerk chicken and rice and pimento seeds( there was barely any peas in the rice). The taste of the rice was off,a bit sour and the jerk chicken was salty with the raw powdered seasoning on the end of the chicken leg. There was no flavour to the food to be honest. But the after affect of eating this food is not pleasant. Its a good thing there was portable potties where on the Humber River Trail . Definitely won't be going back.

I went in to order food from this place which was supposed to be to be $10 for a large plate. However, the cashier overcharged me by almost double of the cost. When I realized she overcharged me I went back to get the rest of my change from the store. The cashier then proceeded to give me the change. But:

1) The change wasn’t from the normal place in the till as if she’s done this multiple times and put the extra change she overcharges people in a separate spot to take later.

2) if she didn’t know she overcharged me she wouldn’t have immediately tell me she’ll get the rest of my change.

Honestly, it’s not about the money and I don’t know the owners or everyone that works there but the cashier is a thief and I would avoid that place.

The famous special is just one very small piece of chicken and not the entire quarter leg anymore with dry coleslaw. The jerk is not properly seasoned and had no heat or kick to it. Definitely won’t be back. They have gone entirely down the drain

FIRST TIME BUY AT THIS RESTAURANT ON FRIDAY NIGHT OF LAST WEEK I DONT KNOW WHAT THESE PEOPLE ARE COOKING AND CALLING IT JAMAICAN FOOD THIS FOOD IS ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE I TRIED FRIED CHICKEN NO FLAVOUR THEY PUT SOME STEWED GRAVY ON MY RICE THE WAY IT WAS HORRIBLE I COULD NOT TELL WHAT GRAVY IT WAS I WILL DEFINITELY NEVER ORDER AGAIN SO DISAPPOINTED 😔 😔😔 BETTER PEOPLE EAT KFC

This restaurant needs to start accepting debit or credit as a form of payment and not only cash today I went to buy a medium meal. I handed the server $20. She asked me if I had two dollars which I did she gave me back $.50 waiting for her to give me the remainder of the my change looks at me confusing you’re good to go. I said you still haven’t given me the $10. She said I gave it to you already. I told her no you did not. You asked me for two dollars you checked underneath to see if you had any change you didn’t so you went into your personal pouch and grabbed $10 and then you put the money underneath. She started looking at me suspiciously and then handed me the $10 me because you just lost a customer because I’m not coming back here when you try to support your own people now I’m being accused of stealing money. get a better cash system so you won’t have to worry if you forgot to give your customers back there change or not.

Best lunch prices in the city! It’s a hidden gem and take out only.

I’ve been here over 7 times, the last time I got food poisoning. I then notice they didn’t receive a fully pass food inspections. Will probably give them another chance again once they get the full pass given positive experiences previous times.

I came into mainsha (dufferin location) today at 12:30pm and ordered fried chicken with rice & peas. I then got home at 1pm and started eating and realized that there was a long piece of hair in my food, I am extremely upset, and find that to be very non professional that the workers are not wearing hair nets. It made me feel disgusted & uneasy, I am very disappointed please do better.

Been a regular at Mainsha for lunch. Never been so disrespected and offended just to get some food on my last experience.

Owner is rude, degrading and offensive. Yells at staff in front of me for giving half coleslaw and half vegetables in my jerk chicken order, and not charging me an extra $1.

After leaving, I can hear the owner screaming from the parking lot... For $1. I'm speechless. This place knows how to piss off regular customers.

Also: Toronto Public Health gave them Conditional Pass as of November 2024! They aren't even following health regulations for food safety. Too busy bickering at people than cleaning the restaurant.

Blessing in disguise, the last time I ever comeback here.

Hole in the wall place. Dark, old and in desperate need for an upgrade. Open kitchen. No tables but standing counter space.
Food is exceptionally cheap. Small Jerk chicken with rice with beans and vegetables /coleslaw is only $6.00 including tax. The chicken was very tender. The rice and vegetables were good as well.
The lady behind the counter was quite nice and helpful.

Your cashier customer service is horrible...from me and my friend came in your store the black ugly gyal that look like bun up Dutch pot is grilling me with an attitude then seems to not wanna serve people ,like you see two females ordering but you want to only give service for one person, and no one did anything to her, from I enter the store that dark skin gyal watching me like I did her something...it's a shame you people treat your own people like garbage I bet you give better service to white people..then that guy bout " have to" of course tou have to what if I was allergic to the damn gravy ,where I work I can't.bend up my face like that to customers , or im fired.. One thing atkeast the mam seemed a little better but will never go back to this hediot place...maybe if she was getting some dixk that would pit a smile on her face.. how black people suppose to support black business when they always giving eachother the worst look and service...with her bun up Dutch pot self. Amd the dread working at the front, you need customer service skills yourself. If many others are complaing about your customer service, then there us an issue. Soon no one will go there. It's a pity I didn't even take a picture of her and put it on social media cause you guys do not know how to deal with customers...I was going to cancel my order, it's a shame I went here from I'm in high-school and your food amd service is a ? times worst. Food sucks ,customer service sucks, that dark skin woman will let your business collapse. Why reply to the reviews and you know there won't be any changes. Just because it's a Jamaican restaurant, it doesn't mean to run it like it's in Jamaica, with dutty customer service. Only Jamaican people act horrible to each other...well I hope people see this review and don't go.

This woman was not trying to serve me, she ask my friend what she wants on her food then assumes I want oxtail gravy, then I talked about it and her colleague the dread guy wasn't any better I can tell they do this on a regular no manners , and to say that's all the gravy you have , why not let the customer know that. Of ypu want horrible customer service amd shifty food then come to this location. They might even spit in the food when you are not looking too....I can only imagine the back of the store ...of they don't appreciate customers then they won't care to sell safe, and edible food. Imagine what goes on there....food probably drop on floor and that one picks it back up.
