Taste of Vietnam Restaurant

They offer many vegetarian options compared with most Vietnamese restaurants. The veggie-and-tofu pho is both vegan-friendly and flavorful, and includes a generous variety of fresh vegetables. The prices are very reasonable.

It would be great if they opened a location in Scarborough somewhere north of Highway 401 because there are limited Vietnamese vegetarian options in that area. In the meantime, I look forward to coming back whenever I'm in the neighborhood.

Tucked away in a nondescript plaza in Downsview is an aptly named restaurant called Taste of Vietnam as the flavours transported me back to Vietnam. This is my second time eating here (my first over a year ago). I enjoyed their food on my first visit, so I stopped by for lunch as I happened to be in the area.

On this particular visit I ordered their Bún Chả Hanoi which is a dish consisting of vermicelli rice noodles, fresh veggies and herbs with a charred pork patty and pork slices in a delicious broth. The food was very fresh and flavourful, I added some crushed garlic and peppers for that extra bite and kick.

With food that tasted great. staff that were polite and friendly, restaurant was clean, price was very reasonable. What’s not to like?

The location doesn’t do it justice. The restaurant is nestled in an industrial area and I guess very few people know about it.

The atmosphere was good, place is clean and service courteous. When we arrived, it was just before busy lunch hour but I can tell the kitchen was busy preparing. One of the guys, potentially the owner, looks like he was preparing an artistic dish in the back and the results came out beautiful.

Our dishes were authentic, tasty (the stock/broth doesn’t have MSG), and nicely presented for the money we spend.

Would definitely come again. Highly recommended.

I ordered a special beef pho and sticky rice with chicken wings. The portions were generous, and the pho broth was perfect for sharing. There were five chicken wings, which was great. The jasmine tea was warm and enjoyable, and the service was excellent. The staff helped me with packing the leftover. I would definitely come back again.
