Soup was bland. It's quite spicy and numbing (ordered extra spicy) but I feel it lack saltiness. It wasn't cooked in the chili paste. It's just pork soup + spoonful of chili paste on top. Price was reasonable $3.29/100g

good place
Dry hotpot was really good. Frog legs and boneless marinated chicken was delicious! Also ordered pork bome soup once; also good for the price. Often full, but spots open up quite fast. Washroom is only one.
Pretty good for a small malatang place.

My family and I ate at the Midland location for the first time and loved it! Amazing soup during the cold months. We will be back for sure!

In love with their savoury tofu pudding (豆腐腦). Exactly how I had it in China. And the staff are super kind. Gave me a sweet tofu pudding to try on the house, which was floral and delicious in its own right. Also they have an amazing egg burrito thing. Not sure what it’s called. 10/10. I believe they serve breakfast until 11am (I wish they served it all day).

I really enjoyed it. I thought the customizable concept was great and the food was delicious. Pretty small inside, wish it was bigger but they were accommodating!

Ordered Malatang and there was no rice for the second time! Called and the store had a very bad attitude! ! Avoid lightning! Can the boss see it? Really convinced

I was embarrassed because they gave me cabbage or vegetables without cutting them.
It was uncomfortable to eat.

My grand daughter and I wandered in and tried this new food and experience!
A great selection of vegetarian AND meats , fresh ingredients to pick from and a clean cozy environment. We both loved it and had enough food to take home for a second meal!! Only improvement will be clearer signage on what the ingredient options are
Vegetarian options: Many vegetables and veg protein options

Malatang in Toronto
The soup base has a strong aroma of tonkotsu, and you can choose different spiciness levels according to your taste.
The fee by weighing is very cost-effective, and you can eat different kinds of vegetables.

Yummy but mala spice is quite oily, so once in a while is delicious, especially in the winter.
Went for dry pot (no soup) option. My friends got the classic mala tang. I tasted the broth and I will get that next time, was pretty tasty.
My friend has a peanut allergy and was fine after telling the server. However, as you can see from my pic there are nuts in the kitchen.
Medium spicy is not as spicy as I expected so it's pretty accommodating to the general palate I would say. Definitely still a great flavourful mala taste.
I recommend getting lotus root as that soaks up the flavour well.
Lastly, quite important, use the tongs to pick up the saucy ingredients last. There are seasoned meats at the bottom, but the tongs will get covered and can't be used in the other bins again.
