Chicken is a bit rubbery and rice a bit soggy. Salad and plantains were really good though. I’ve come here before so I know the food can be 10 times better. I’ll come back again in hopes for better chicken and rice :)
After having Pili Pili on Dalhousie I started looking for something closer to the East end. I tried a few spots then found this place and haven't gone anywhere else.
I only get takeout and the owner that answers the phone provides great service, and the chicken is amazing. The plantain and rice are pretty good too, but the chicken is what I keep craving.
My company recently ordered from African BBQ House in Ottawa. Everyone was blown away by the portions and flavors of the food. The owner and staff were incredible with accommodating my order when given short notice and were extremely friendly. Highly recommended 10/10!

Food was dry hard to meat. Don’t visit easy soft eater not your spot. Rice was teast like uncooked tomato in all it was bad experience look for African food and experience this kind big disappointment

Wanted to eat only quarter chicken, ended up eating half in one sitting. It is that GOOD! Beautifully cooked and you can taste the delicious seasoning all the way through.
The service is super polite and they all seem to be such nice people! Great vibe!
I would recommend to do take out as the place is pretty hot for a dine in. Just take it home and enjoy the deliciousness in comfort :)

The chicken was rotten and burnt and the rice was uncooked and slimy. Not only that the meal was very tasteless. It wasn’t very fresh and tasted of mostly packaged curry. Called their customer service and they told me that their fridge was broken yet they still decided to serve the food?? Can’t recommend to anybody.

I had one of the best spicy chicken meals ever — crispy, juicy, and packed with perfect heat. Ali, the manager, gave my family a warm welcome and made us feel right at home. Great food, amazing service — we’ll definitely be back!
I ordered the goat skewers with jollof rice, salad and plantain. I was disappointed that in a dish costing over $30, the rice tasted stale and the goat was so hard to chew and full of fat. Nearly half of each skewer was uneatable. This was my first experience at this restaurant so this was disappointing.

I made an order at this restaurant online and pre paid with my credit card. I was to pick the order up at 6 PM. At 5:30 I got an email from the restaurant reminding me of my order. I showed up at 6 PM to find that the restaurant was closed! I called their number and reached a downtown branch. The fellow on the other end explained that yes, the restaurant would be closed for a few days, and no, they did not post anything online. He suggested that I get in my car and drive downtown (in rush-hour!) and they would START making my order then. I declined, of course. He offered me a refund. This is clearly a restaurant that has problems. I recommend that it be avoided.

African BBQ House is delicious! Everything I had was wonderful, the salad, jollof rice and plantains were super tasty. I was a bit chicken on the spice level for my skewers this time around and the mild was extremely mild. I will adventure to the next heat level for the next one and pray for mercy 😆
