This was my first visit here and was not disappointed. The service from the moment I walked in was friendly and helpful. Ordered a chicken shawarma and garlic potatoes. Both were tasty and excellent value for the money. Hadn't had shawarma in a while, so this was an excellent treat after a long day of work.

March 27, 2023I ordered the kofta platter. This was really bad, the food is not fresh, they use the microwave. The restaurant inside is extremely dirty.I am disappointed because the reviews were misleading me.I would avoid coming here if I were you.

The food was amazing!! I just happened to walk into this gem. I saw the sweet deal of a shawarma and a pop for 10 dollars. But then I saw the potatoes.. getting extra garlic for the potatoes, yes! Spicy garlic, why not! Oh my goodness, I write this in the morning, and I kid you not. I am hungry for this, and my mouth is watering!! It is that good!! Will be back very soon! Thanks for the amazing food and service:)

Last week, I had dinner there with my friend. Unfortunately, I vomited until the morning. It was obvious that the food was stale. He needs to be a little more careful, it is very risky. It was yesterday's leftover

Excellent food, generous portions and the best garlic sauce in town. The cook is also very friendly!Edit: My initial review was from 6 years ago and I figured it was time for an update. I have been a regular customer at Alissar's since 2017. They are my favorite Shawarma restaurant in town and I'm sure other regulars would agree the staff is very hospitable and prices are fair. The food is delicious and all of it -from the wonderful chicken, beef, donair and kebabs to the variety of tasty sauces - is homemade. The interior is nothing fancy; there are tables and chairs, sometimes a few boxes piled up next to the soda fridge and some cute pictures of Lebanon. But in my mind, you don't want a shawarma restaurant to be shiny, you want it to be authentic, which I really think this place pulls off. They even often play arabic sitcoms and music, and I love it! It's as if you step out of Ottawa and into a little slice of Lebanon. Thanks so much to the 2 men behind the counter who have been serving me my favorite food for the last 8 years, though the many chapters of my life since we first met. I'll be back soon!

I am extremely picky with my Shawarma as I've encountered that many are very unsatisfactory. But this place hits the spot every time I come to Ottawa. I always finish my wrap wanting more. Not to mention the guys are always joking around, making you feel like one of their friends.Food great! Service friendly! Place could use a little attention, but nothing to complain about.Thank you!

No beef available at 3pm, chicken wasn't cut off the spit, $10 after tax for small chicken shawarma = bad value compared to Lebanese palace, can't see this place surviving in this competitive environment main reason woud be pricing, turnips and taboleh were good, garlic sauce was
One the worst shawarma’s I’ve even had. I have never seen garlic sauce made, the way that they make there’s, runny and liquidity. This isn’t the first time that I’ve come here, and had a poor experience. I decided to give this place a second chance, and that was a mistake. They do not serve you fresh food. Both times, their garlic potatoes were old. Food quality is poor, service is unhygienic.

We ordered the shawarma platter for 7 people with beef and chicken, rice and salad. We all had seconds and had enough to eat the next day too! It was $180. The quality was excellent and it was delicious!!!!

Food was ok but after ordering and paying, I elected not to tip, the guy making the food muttered "Kos Omak" under his breathe. Most English speaking people won't know what this term means, I've lived in Egypt for a few years and know full well. Look it up and go somewhere else.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL GOING HERE:Firstly, I’ve been going here multiple times. The first time I went, I felt the one of the guys (there are always 2) looks at me weird like kinda staring to the point you get uncomfortable. Everytime I go, i order the same thing, meaning my total should never change. But everytime I go, he charges me different prices for the same food I get like sometimes $8.90, $9.64. This time when I went, he asked me where I work, therefore I told him I work with doctor and immediately tried to force me to get a drink me with meal. I told him I don’t want to like usual, and still got my grasp and tried to charge me above $11 while I always pay around $8-9 for a small wrap. It’s a rip off and he doesn’t wear gloves when making your food! Please be careful

The shawarma wasn’t fresh. We ordered one normal and spicy. But i felt no difference between them. The way he preparing is not hygienic. Needless to say that too expensive for the below average shawarma.
