Appetizers were very good. 3 of us had a salad with shrimp. After the shrimp there was very little to it. Mostly lettuce with little to no dressing. So boring that we each left half of them. Halibut was overcooked, little potatoes undercooked (hard uncooked - unbelievable). Asked for a glass of red wine twice - finally came 30 minutes later. Marquerita were so so. Overall, very disappointing. Mentioned to our server how dull and tasteless the salads were and were given two desserts on the house - the beignets and cheesecake. Both of which were very good.

The food was fabulous! My husband's steak was cooked as ordered, and my seafood pasta was wonderful (shrimp were a tad overcooked). The server was ok, didn't refill water or ask if we wanted another drink, we had to ask for these things. It was mentioned at the time of the reservation it was our anniversary, and dessert was brought out with a candle. Nice touch.

Pros: Great staff Delicious drinks Cons: Told we would get high top table, given low table in cramped area. Very cramped overall, feels like you're having a communal dining experience. Average food Overpriced food and drinks Dark and dingy. Music too loud, can't even have a conversation. Overall the finishing of the restaurant is very poor. Ugly green curtains are used to separate the kitchen from the dining area with a table placed right next to it. Black material used to cover windows. Toilets are so cramped, and there is paint/glue on wall tiles. Rooftop view is the street and buildings opposite, would benefit from having some plants or other flowers to make it look more appealing. Overall underwhelming and disappointing.

Many options to choose from on the menus (terrace and restaurant), food was delicious and the service was impeccable. Date Night was memorable, definitely going back🤩

Great food, great service, and a fun time. The crab bites appetizer was fantastic and the drinks perfect.

I recently dined at Alora with high hopes, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. We were looking forward to a special date night, especially coming from Toronto, but the food was mediocre at best. I ordered the tomahawk steak, which was a disappointment. The menu didn't specify the ounces, and now I understand why—there was an abundance of fat. We requested it cooked medium rare, but it arrived well done. We tried our best to enjoy the meal since we were hungry, but it just didn't hit the mark. The highlight of the evening was definitely the bottle of champagne we ordered. Overall, the experience left much to be desired, and we wont be returning.

Fantastic. Food was awesome, service was friendly, prompt, but not overbearing. Atmosphere was also great. Highly recommend.

Awesome atmosphere and vibe, Alex, Sullivan and Derek are very friendly and engaging, the food is very good, it's my go to place for dinner whenever I have friends visiting from out of town.

First time dinning at Alora! Excellent service. From the hostess to our waitress. Prag was a gem.

Don't eat here if you have food allergies! Noted issue in our reservation and confirmed twice with server. Food arrived covered in item flagged. Sent it back and it was returned a few minutes later. The kitchen picked most-but not all-out and sent it back! This speaks to an unprofessional kitchen, poorly trained table staff, and absolute disrespect for the customer. AND ITS DANGEROUS. It's a cute place. Young staff trying hard. Menu was out of many items. Dishes ordered couldn't be filled etc. Other guests in our party were satisfied with their food, and the fish tacos were praised. Salads bland and overpriced. We were comped the offending dish. Was not invited to order something else. Ate $15 fries and a $29 drink (which was delicious)and left hungry. This isn't a serious restaurant. Lots of better (and safer) options in Canada's capital.

Great time at Alora, the steak was a little fatty but the flavour was amazing. The service was top notch and the drinks were lovely.

The value of Alora was low. Prices are high but the food was average at best. We arrived a few minutes late and the greeter was quick to point out that this would shorten our dining time which I thought was unnecessary. The place was noisy and the ambience just ok. The bottom line is that the experience was not great.

My husband and I went out to celebrate our wedding anniversary over the weekend—we love a good restaurant experience. This was my second time at Alora; my first visit was fantastic. Unfortunately, this time was quite disappointing. We were seated at a table for two right next to the kitchen door, which was very noisy, and so close to another couple that it almost felt like we were dining together. I assumed the restaurant was fully booked (we had a reservation), but it actually stayed fairly quiet for the rest of the evening. The biggest disappointment was the Tuna sushi roll. It was clear our dish was served to us, missing many components from the descrition in the menu ans when addressed with the server, she said she would look into it and then proceeded to serve us the rest of the evening as though the conversation was never had. We were charge the full $30 for the roll that was served incomplete.

We visited Alora to celebrate a milestone birthday. When we inquired about getting a bottle of champagne for the table (there were 5 of us) we were told that one bottle will not be enough for the 5 of us and that we would need to get 2 bottles (each at about $140). The waitress was in training which was fine, but overall she seemed flustered. The order of the appetizers and the mains were all mixed up, and 2 people waited almost 15 minutes after the rest of us got our mains. The food was mediocre. Plating was disappointing, the chicken on the ceasar salad was like dry chicken nuggets, and some of the steaks were overcooked. At the end of the meal, the waitress came to the table to apologize for the issues and let us know that they would like to offer either a free dessert or free shots for the table. We were not interested in this. Then one of the owners came over to the table and offered the same again. When we declined the dessert and shots, we weren't offered for anything to be comped on the receipt in stead or for a discount. We were just told "alright". Had the experience been half of the price that it was, we wouldn't have been so disappointed. But to pay luxury pricing for a less than luxury experience is such a let down. We will not be returning.
