I ate in Xiaoqianyuan on the second day of the New Year and discovered a treasure. I got along very well with the boss and had a great time chatting! This Sichuan and Chongqing cuisine is authentic, and has been improved according to the taste here. It is not so oily, but still maintains the flavor. I, a Yunnanese, feel like going home after one bite😭 I ordered hot pepper sausage and grilled fish, and also unlocked the Guizhou boss's Hidden menu - Guizhou beef in sour soup! ! All dishes were sold out😋 I will come here to eat again when I come to Ottawa in the future!

Not much to say, I’ve finished all the dishes in one pot, and I recommend that anyone who wants to drink sour soup give it a try. The grilled fish is also delicious, not so oily, very fragrant, very authentic Guizhou flavor, well worth eating! ! !

This is my absolute favourite restaurant, love the spiciness!! Service is always quick and great. I always get the soft-shell crab fried rice, it’s amazing!! Also recommend the spicy dry hotpot with chili sauce, and the pork belly and potatoes!!

This place is located in an old moldy basement. As the name implies, you will need a strong stomach to handle the spicy food. Even the supposedly mild spicy was too much for me. They only have 1 server for the whole restaurant.

Parking: Tables are not properly cleaned. The drinking cups are old and cloudy.
Kid-friendliness: No
Wheelchair accessibility: Definitely not, 2 sets of narrow stairs to access the basement restaurant.

We had diarrhea just on the way home after eating. I don’t know if it was because the food was not fresh or for some other reason.
And the price is very expensive, for the amount they gave. Mild hot is really hot.
When I called to complain, the boss' attitude was very very bad.
Update: it is ridiculous that you said you could not receive “Disrespectful and abusive language”! It was you who are really not showing respect and sorrow at all! I was mad that I ate and uncomfortable and you just questioned the truthfulness of what I said. Not everyone had uncomfortable and then reported to the person who paid! It is my privacy. I kept saying it was me and my boyfriend and you still tell everybody that i was lying because the person who paid didn’t know i was uncomfortable?? If you keep do that i will ask the health authorities to check it out.

We come here all the time! We always go with the lowest spice level since can't deal with the spices but the fish for 2 is not just delicious but very filling. We take the soup to go and make a second meal of it the next day. Highly recommend! Just be sure you can deal with some fish bones.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The food here is delicious. The brown sugar rice cakes(红糖糍粑）, spicy hot pot with duck blood 毛血旺 (incredibly flavorful chili), and stir-fried clams are all fantastic??. Everything is extremely tasty and aromatic. The portions are generous, especially the fried rice.
