I would give them 10 stars if I could. I don’t even know where to begin, food was delicious, staff was extremely accommodating (even more than they should’ve been given the short notice).
Everything came out at a reasonable time, and we felt very taken care of.
I would recommend the Gnocchi de la Casa
Looking forward to going back for the next special occasion!

Such a beautiful restaurant. My partner & I had a lovely time. The food was so good and the service was top notch. Will definitely be coming back again!

Truly disappointed at our Valentine's Day dinner at Giovanni's. I understand that this is a special occasion and restaurants will make the most of upselling their menu. But the selections were limited, pasta was hardly on offering and the quality of the mains was poor to say the least. When dinner for 2 is over $600.00 you really have to question why this restaurant gets the attention it does. The food doesn't match the price. Overall, I would never return and I was just so disappointed with my entire experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, veal Parmesan and veal Marsala. Our only reason for not giving the restaurant 5 stars is that they were playing the radio loudly.

I went to Giovannis for dinner last night and was blown away by the experience. The service was amazing, so professional and friendly, we felt completely taken care of from start to finish. The food was incredible, we had the calamari and octopus dish, followed by the Lamb special and the gnocchi. At the end of our dessert and after we had paid the bill our server offered us a limoncello, just such a nice touch to end the evening. I am already looking forward to going back. Thank you again for such an amazing experience!!

Very nice Venue. It was very loud and busy, and the tables are too close together. The food was average, nothing spectacular. Our server got caught up with a table spending mega bucks on wine, so we were left for25 minutes after our main course, with no one taking our dessert orders or offering coffee or anything. I was quite disappointed as I was expecting so much more. The only consolation was that I had a Gift Certificate someone gave me that paid for most of the meal, so I was only out of pocket about 80.00 for 4 or us. (We did not drink any alcohol)
The veal stuffed tortellini and carbonera were outstanding, as were the creme brule and tiramisu. Absolutely cooked to perfection. The Romanoff sauce was simply incredible. The staff were super attentive, helpful, and friendly. The valet parking, coat check, and dinner service were all done with warmth and care. Fine dining is a rare treat for us and we felt special and well looked after.
Giovanni's is a long-standing venue in Ottawa's Little Italy restaurant scene. It has to be doing a lot of things right to survive in this very competitive industry. It's been years since we've been there - so we returned.
Our dinner there seemed to be stepping back in time -- no value judgement placed on this.
Positives - the service was super friendly. The front of the house and servers were all family - if not direct then members of the Italian family at large. One looked like a he would have been a ringer for casting in the Godfather - and he wouldn't have had to change his suit.
The menu - all the traditional Italian favourites, cooked the way Great Gramma did it. Great if that is what you are looking for.
Not so positives. The flip side of the positives. If you are looking for innovative Italian dining experiences - you'd be better off elsewhere. The menus and preparations as noted above are traditional. But this is a matter of choice.
The same could be said of the wine list - mostly Italian wines, and a very good selection of fine (and pricey) wines, but limited selection of wines at mid to lower end of the price spectrum, and especially from other countries. It would be nice in general for Canadian restaurants to offer more Canadian wines - a comment that applies to many Canadian restaurants.

I don't get there as often as I would like as I live in Toronto. Every time I visit Ottawa, this is a must do. I cook extensively and I appreciate the time it takes to prepare these gorgeous dishes. The food is absolutely differentiating and is top of class. Our server was top notch, professional, and really paid attention to our table. I wish we had something like this in Toronto.
