We had a truly memorable dining experience last night from start to finish---the best that I can recall in a very, very long time. Excellent, thoughtful food. Cozy, romantic vibes. And, exceptional service. Sebastien went above and beyond in taking care of us. He was attentive and engaging but never intrusive. His knowledge both historical and culinary helped to elevate each dish. And, he even shared lactaid pills from his personal supply when I forgot to bring my own. At no point...
It’s just good. Neither “old school” nor “too cool for school.” Friendly, efficient service. Inventive cocktails, good wine, and delicious food. Our only problem was that it was TOO efficient. We were in and out in about 90 minutes (cocktails and two courses), so we actually missed the waiting time. 😂
Atmosphere was nice. Waitress didn't explain the menu so much as ask us what we didn't understand. Mocktails were very good.
The food was a bit underwhelming. Polpettes were juicy but uninteresting. Frico had good flavours of herbs and smoked fish, but nothing novel. Winter squash tasted mostly of the cheese scattered throughout. Spelt risotto was very one note and texturally difficult to get through.
