It was the first time we had visited this restaurant and we were there for a small team dinner. The set dinner for $75 per person was extraordinary. Delicious, delicious and even more delicious. The only element that was a little less extraordinary were donuts for dessert. They were very tasty, but they felt less than the rest of the dinner. One of our group is a self proclaimed chicken fingers-girl and she loved the sashimi - we have created a new foodie. We all agreed we would recommend it and go again.
This is a great spot, the tasting menu is excellent value for the amount of food you get and the quality.
Nous avons pris la salade de papaye, le thon et le panang, et tout était excellent. Excellent service
Had my birthday dinner at Sidedoor in Ottawa and tried the Best of Sidedoor tasting menu—every dish was a hit. Exquisite flavors, beautifully presented, and perfect for a special occasion.

It was an amazing evening with friends. Food was excellent, the ambiance and our waiter was 10/10. Love Sidedoor
We had the best dinner so many amazing flavours! Our friends from out of town were so impressed!! Thanks also for the super service! Highly recommend trying the donuts yummy!
Use to have unbelivable food there. We tried some new dish and were disappointed. Also, 3/4 of the menu had fish composant, I'm allergic to fish. The choice because of that was very diminished. Finally, a group sitting at the next table greatly lack consideration for other. It s it the place to film for you tik tok or what else with a very bright camera that keep shining in our eyes. Not the restaurant fault but when we pay ourself a 240$ night out....
Food was amazing. Ambience was nice too – service on the other hand wasn't the best. A lot of the times, I found myself have to wait for long periods of time to get to speak to the server to order more food/get the bill and they had checked in with the other tables many times during that timeframe – unsure why but it was a bit unfortunate.

Nestled in the middle of a downtown courtyard (currently under construction in oct 2025 be sure to plan to enter from york st) Sidedoor is a lovely place for dinner with colleagues friends or your uottawa student during a special visit. The menu of small plates includes many south asian and south east asian inspired flavours. Their drink menu is pleasant, their wine list is good. Service is polite and prompt. Atmosphere is gorgeous. This was my 2nd visit (last here in summer 2024) and I'll definitely be back

This is my favorite restaurant in Ottawa (and maybe in Canada!). The coconut curry fritters and the papaya salad. You can't get that kind of food elsewhere. Highly recommend.

We had a wedding in September everything would have been perfect if it wasn't for the lack of communication in their team, we had communicated by e-mail with them about our alcoholic drinks preferences and number of guests attending but all got missed and at the end we were charged for 10 extra meals, coktails that we didn't agree to. I noticed the bartender pouring 10 drinks at once on a tray 3 times and calling on guests to drink them, it almost looked like an open bar except we were charged on consumption. I had asked for a detailed receipt at the end of the night but I never received it. When the receipt was sent by email we noticed discrepancies, tips and taxes were charged on meals that were never served, and a microphone we didnt request, when approached, they were not very professional.

I went here on the 20th of October for a friend's birthday. The service was good and the staff were friendly. But I have to agree with the reviews about the food. I ended up getting pretty severe food poisoning which I believe came from the kimchi. I wouldn't recommend eating here.

The service was good, and the atmosphere was nice with dim lights and low playing music (although somehow, the environment was loud). The restaurant isn't really accessible though (it would be difficult for anyone in a wheelchair). Biggest complain honestly was the food. We ordered a fair amount of things (popcorn chicken, beef taco, duck taco, korean bbq pork bun shrimp curry, gnocchi, jasmine rice and kimchi) and for an asian-inspired restaurant, they actually messed up the rice. It was crunchy! The only thing we liked was the popcorn chicken. The bbq pork bun was just a slab of pork belly on a bun, and not a bun filled with fall off the bone pork. The gnocchi was kind of a mess. The kimchi tasted like it had different types of cabbage all together....It was just a really unpleasant food experience. Extremely disappointed by the food.
