There's a tiny little Chinese BBQ shop in the north end of Scarborough, on McCowan Rd., called New May Hong Yuen BBQ. Their food is very good and their prices are very affordable. Their portions are HUGE!On this visit, I actually didn't get any BBQ meats. I know, that's kinda odd. I did, however, get a couple of their cooked dishes - Sweet and Sour Pork, and Chow Mein with Chicken. I was very surprised at how heavy the containers were. They were both jam packed with food! There was easily enough for four adult servings. This turned out to be a great deal, all for under $15! I will definitely be back...

Hidden gem! Generous portions. Not overly salty, just right. Tasty barbecue. Best one in the area. Comes with a can of soda pop. Friendly service. Staff goes out of the way to make their customers happy. Good value for money. Cash only.

I get to eat here a lot since I work right next to it. I have to say the service is always awesome and they keep the place well organized consistently. Rates are fair and they serve big portions.

I admire this restaurant! They provide great meals, their menu is large, The chief cook in that place is an expert, I love very much eating all their food. The food is consistently of high qualtity, the service towards the customers is very good too. I frequently visit this place and I not even once was discontended. I recommend it with no hesitation.

This restaurant is definitely one of the finest restaurants in the region. Whenever I go there I am extremely pleased. They maintain their high level service and the topmost level of meals they provide. You can never go wrong with this restaurant. Warmly recommended.

Low quality. The pork was tough and sauce was bland. I ordered a combo and the rice was undercooked. Slow service. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again.

I can still remember when I was a young kid, my grandma would take me to the open air market to buy fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and on our way home we would sometimes stop by a store that sells an assortment of bbq meats... bbq pork, roasted duck, old soy marinated soy duck wings.... and pick up some take out to add a dish to the dinner menu. Being a little boy the bbq chef whose chopping up the meats would on occasion hand me a small slice of fresh bbq pork as a small treat... those were the taste of nostalgia. Now I can assure you that no bbq meat chef is handling me, a middle aged man a slice of bbq meat with their super oily hands. However the taste of the bbq at New May Hong Yuen definitely brought me back to my childhood. It's been a long time since I've had bbq meat done this well. I ordered an economical two meat combo with bbq duck and roast pork for six dollar something. The duck skin had a good tangy, sweet and malty bbq taste. The layer of fat underneath the skin is fairly thin. The taste and texture of the meat indicates that they are using pretty good quality ducks. The roast pork was way beyond my expectation. The airy crunchy skin was absolutely perfect (Too many places nowadays have roasted pork with a dense or even worse hard skin). The meat was marinated in a way that struck a fine balance between the taste of the meat and the savoury nature of the inside, cartilage or bone portion of the pork (Again too many places with super salty interior). Not unlike the duck the choice of meat is of good quality. The meat is tender with some chew but you won't randomly find tendon that you can't chew through. I forgot to mention that the combo also includes either a choice of soup or pop. I will be returning to New May Hong Yuen to find the taste from my childhood again. This is the rare place that I would go out of my way to pick up some take out.

Had a craving for Chinese bbq. Nothing located nearby in the Markham (Cornell) area. Found this little gem on Google. Didn't disappoint! $13 for two massive takeout containers (plus comes with a coke with each meal). Quality is good (I'm no coniseur), but I was plenty full. Would definitely make this a regular visit for quick meals in the future.

Roast pork is best. Charsiu not so much. Also, ask for pork neck - fatty and texturally interesting!
