Nice hidden gem, good wines and a beautiful location.
My husband and I went to Wending Home for a tasting last Monday. We were so pleasantly surprised! Bonnie (amazing wine lover and server) greeted us, set us up on the patio and started us off with a splash of their Reisling, which was fantastic. We ordered two flights of wine. We loved all the wines, but our favourites included the Vidal/Chardonnay Small Batch Series, Estate Gamay, Estate Chardonnay, Estate Cab Franc, and the Estate Wending North. Really nice people and good wines. Highly recommend the viognier and the 2020 cabernet franc. Going back for more.

Wending Home Estate Vineyards & Winery offers a fantastic and unique wine tasting experience. The winery is smaller and more informal, sometimes requiring visitors to call upon arrival. Tastings cost $20 for 4 samples, with an option for a more in-depth, winemaker-led experience. Wines are highly praised, especially the Wending North and their riesling. The knowledgeable staff and excellent wines make it a highly recommended destination.
However, some customers have expressed concerns about the frequent use of bird cannons by the winery, which can be disruptive to the surrounding neighborhood. The winery is the only one in the area that operates these cannons for extended periods, from 7 AM to 8 PM daily, resulting in nearly 1,000 shotgun blasts per day. This noise disturbance has been a source of frustration for some nearby residents, including shift workers who are constantly being woken up.
Despite these concerns, the winery continues to receive positive reviews for its fantastic wines and wonderful staff. Ron Giesbrecht, the winemaker and co-owner, is praised for crafting exceptional wines and being a pleasure to talk with. Visitors often describe the winery as a hidden gem, with a warm and cozy space and beautiful artwork on the walls.
