Stunning design, sophisticated atmosphere, and fantastic selection of cocktails and beers. The scallops, braai bowl, and deconstructed peach dessert were well-executed. We are sad to admit that we found the duck portion and service disappointing - we acknowledge that it must be tough to manage a full house on a Friday after this past year, however we were hoping for a better experience as this was likely our last romantic evening until October. Our server was stretched across multiple sections inside the restaurant and on the patio, and consequently we were unable to ask half of our questions or follow up on a forgotten lager as we felt our server had quite a workload to balance. We are rooting for this establishment and would be open to visiting again once service levels are aligned with the price point.
Edit: We've returned a few times after our original visit and have been impressed with the attentive service and consistent quality. We will keep coming back!

We had an amazing time tonight at Braii house. The entire experience, service, food, everything was just incredible. Chef John did a fantastic job preparing our meals and explaining what we were eating, and Luke was very courteous and attentive with his service. We will certainly come back!

We just had our first dining experience at Braai House after a friend recommenced it. I was absolutely blown away and left speechless at how incredible the food was. I had the rump steak and it awoke taste buds I didn’t realize I had. Easily a 10/10 meal. On top of that the waiters and chefs were so amazing and kind. I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant and can’t wait to return very soon.

Sat at the chefs table. Absolutely one of my new favourite dining experiences. The chef’s were so kind to speak with us, explain everything that was going on kitchen wise and food wise. Very personable people and the waiters were so attentive. Now onto the best part - the food! My goodness this is now in my top 5 best meals ever. Don’t shy away from the traditional food served here you will not be disappointed! I will definitely be back :)

I first thought I wasn't going to post this because private non-franchise restaurants in Canada need boosting, not the kind of critique I am giving. Still I spent close to $300 for 3 people so it's worth a review.
First, I know South-African cuisine. At its worst, it is a copy of old British and Dutch non-cuisine with a bit of spice thrown in. At its summit, it is a powerful hothouse of blends of spices from all around the world, India, China, Malaysia, Mauritania pushed into bland British ingredients to make them just amazing.
I ordered biltong, boboti spring rolls, my colleague ordered a pizza funghi. This was underwhelming. The biltong were at the bottom end of flavor for South African biltong - and there were supposed to be two flavors on that board. The bobotie rolls were OK - which means a 3 out of 5 - because it just didn't pack enough typical South African flavor.
We ordered monk fish, quarter chicken, and I ordered the Plant along with some boereworst. My companions were impressed with the fish and the chicken. I wasn't with the plant, which was supposed to be a vegetarian dish that I desecrated with boereworst (farm sausage), a sausage that again was very average. I had chosen it because it was the only curry on the menu. South Africa has loads of curries. This one was very disappointing. The veggies were undercooked: let me stress, I know crispy veggies which I love, and I know undercooked. This was the latter. My colleague confirmed the same with the monk fish veggies.
Overall evaluation - why does a South-African place have so few curries? Bobotie is essentially also a curry dish, and I am stunned that a place with a pizza oven (which is not South African) would not use that to make some amazing personal bobotie dishes.
Also, reminded here of the dichotomy within South Africa - the Afrikaner crowd which clings to British low-flavor dishes, and the melting pot South African crowd which celebrates spice. This place is definitely on the low end of flavor.
Nice atmosphere, nice service, but disappointing in delivering full South Africa.

What an amazing restaurant. From the moment we walked into this restaurant we were all impressed with:
the elegant decor
how warmly we were welcomed to the restaurant
how attentive & knowledgeable our server was
there were 6 of us at our table and we all ordered different dishes & appetizers and everyone raved about their order
We had a wonderful evening and we all agreed to visit this lovely restaurant again to try other tantalizing dishes.
If you are looking to try a unique restaurant, I highly recommend booking a table at Braai House in Stratford.

We went here based on a recommendation and I’m glad we did. The Braai House, above the Braai bar is a South African inspired eatery and this was interesting to see in Stratford. After walking through the unassuming stairwell, you are greeted into a cozy, quiet room. The ambience was befitting for dinner; dark woods, subdued lighting. Once seated we were handed leather backed menus. The menu both for drinks and food was not packed full of options but the options were plenty. Our waiter, Luke, explained some options, some South African nomenclature and his top choices on the menu (he said they were all his top choice). We ended up choosing the Ramp steak, Lamb steak and an Afrikaneer Pizza as an appetiser for 4. The pizza was thin crusted, filled with toppings and adequately spicy. The steaks were done perfectly to our preference, potatoes and veggies were fresh and seasoned to perfection. For dessert we went for the Pineapple Raviolo, which again, tasted delightful. Overall, the ambience was great, it was cozy for a frigid winter night, the open style wood-fire kitchen was a pleasant sight, our waiter Luke and his colleagues were amazing, the food, did not leave much to be desired, it was great. I’d recommend.
Wheelchair accessibility: There is no elevator to the upstairs level which can be a hindering.

Braiihouse is a must-visit in Stratford! Luke was an exceptional server, drinks were fresh & well-made, and the lamb stew is outstanding. Excellent portions, great vibe, and way better than other spots!

My favourite meal this year was at Braai House. We started with cocktails in the bar on the first floor then moved our way upstairs for dinner. The bar is beautiful, with dark and sophisticated tones, and friendly staff. You won't find this type of food and drink menu anywhere else, it's definitely unique and adventurous. The restaurant upstairs is cozy and still sophisticated, welcoming and knowledgeable staff, and intimate. You're able to sit at the bar, at the chef's bar or in the dining area. All 3 courses we had were so well executed, everything was high quality. Loved the whole experience. If you visit, Stratford, you have to check out Braai House!

I like this place and everything looks yummy but we got a pizza tonight for to go and it was so burnt that we could only taste the bitterness from it 😥 I gave 3 stars because I like the place and they are always nice but the pizza was so bitter burnt, it was unpleasant to eat. The review is just for awareness, not to be rude... we will go back in the future and hopefully it will be better

4 of us didn’t get even in the restaurant even though I had a reservation. After 20 minutes of being ignored andI felt that we were a bother to the hosted. We decided to leave. An apology or alternative bar seating while waiting would have been nice but the hostes was ignoring us.
