First time trying this restaurant and it was great! My boyfriend and I sat at the chef's counter and we had a fun time watching the cooks do their work. Our server Joel was super friendly and a great guy! He was very attentive and kept checking in on us to make sure we were doing okay and he made our entire experience very comfortable. The food was really tasty, we got the spring rolls, braai burger and the hermanus sting pizza. We also got the chocolate pudding for dessert and that was a great way to end the night. Next time we visit Stratford we will definitely come again!

My wife and I had a truly memorable dinner at Braai House after taking in a show at the Stratford Festival. We were completely blown away by the experience. The restaurant is beautiful, the service impeccable and the food simply blew us away. Definitely one of the best meals of the year and we look forward to going back next year.

Overall experience was excellent! Fast, accurate service, even during the packed theater time. Highly recommend the biltong board, Braai burger and Elgin pizza! If possible, go after 7 once the crowd starts to leave

We had a great evening at Braai House! This was our first visit here. We sat at the chef’s counter, which we always try to do when it’s available, and it really made the night. We loved watching the kitchen at work, and Chef Matthew checked in often and chatted with us throughout the evening.
We started with the squid, and the Chef brought out a selection of house-made hot sauces just for us. This is exactly why we love sitting kitchen-side; those little touches and personalized upgrades make it special. For mains, I had the lamb and my husband had the Braai bowl. Both were full of flavor and cooked beautifully. It will be hard not to order the lamb again next time, it was easily 11/10.
For dessert, we were convinced to try the South African milk tart, and it was to die for. We also went with the chocolate malva cake, which did not disappoint. Halfway through, Chef even brought me an extra scoop of ice cream so I could finish it properly. Definitely save room for dessert!
The only part that fell short was the traditional service. Our cocktails arrived after the appetizer, a second round was delayed, and we had to follow up on a few basic things with our server. By the end of the night, it was the chef’s attention and hospitality that truly warranted the generous tip we left, not the bar or table service.
We’ll definitely be back, book the counter again, and can’t wait to explore more of the menu!

A very disappointing experience. Mediocre service. Server even apologized for not being more available. Big issue: could only tip, 18%, 20%, 22%, or no tip. I wanted to put in a numerical tip of around 15%, but there was no option to put in own tip amount. I’ve never not seen this option before when paying. Pathetic.
Food: was ok, steak had a lot of fat and was tough. Pizza was fine. Highly recommend “Elizabeth” for excellent food or “Jobsite” for pizza instead.
If you do go, make sure you bring cash for tipping.
Not great, do better Braai. I would not have left this review if it weren’t for the shady tipping options.

My family and I had the loveliest evening at Braai House. Delicious food, very warm and friendly staff, a beautiful restaurant that was nonetheless welcoming to a big family with several kids, including a toddler and a kid who mostly wanted to sit and watch/chat with the kitchen staff (who were happy to chat with him and let him watch).

Reservation required. Extremely happy with our experience. Dishes were delicious and filling. Table reservations were full, so I chose to book at the kitchen. We are shy people, it wouldn’t have been my first choice. The food was so good, I ended up loving the seats because we got to see everyone else’s yummy dishes being prepared. My only regret was not bringing more people to dine with, to be able to sample more food!!

I am a plump, contented dollop of a man after my meal at Braai. Every sauce a delight, each entree and appy pleasing in every sense : taste, presentation, and an olfactory delight.
This was a fantastic meal for our 31st anniversary. The South Affrican BBQ cuisine was phenomenal, and sitting at the chefs table allowed us to chat with one of the chefs as we ate, but you can also get a table or a bar seat to talk with the bartenders. I would highly recommend this as a place for a special meal.
