We frequent the Shops on Yonge food court for the variety of Asian food offerings there, and Tan Da Ban is one of our go-to places, especially if we're craving fried pork buns with soup. They're made well with a skin that's not overly thick, but not so thin that it falls apart too easily. We also often get the scallion noodles, which is a simple dish but goes well with the meal. The restaurant is fairly popular, so sometimes the wait can be upwards of 45 mins, so on those days, we often just opt for one of the other many good options at the food court. If you ever plan to go or have a craving though, best to call ahead and ask about the wait time or to order well in advance. The owners and employees are generally very friendly and helpful.

Got the pork and shrimp buns and noodles with scallion oil and dried shrimp, and they were amazing. Also got frozen wontons to take home and try. There are also buns with chicken, beef, shrimp or mushroom if you do not eat pork.
2023 April 3.5★Seems to be a craze of Sang-Ji bao (生煎包) or is it just me? I'm sure your looking at this thinking how this compares to the other widely known place a bit further (by car) down the street? At time of writing, they sell it for the same price here for their standard Filled with Pork versions at $7.99 / 4只 4pcs.So how does it compare? The skin is certainly nice and thin. There's a good portion of meat as well and while there's a good portion of soup, it just shy of being juicy enough. It is certainly good and if your in the area, certainly a good alternative especially if you don't want to wait with line ups or sit in gratuities.15 minute wait as it's made fresh.Would still give this a shot if your reading this.Located on the second floor at the food court within World Shops.Free parking.

Rally enjoyed the pan fried bao and noodles. Would definitely go back again. On the pricier side though.
My favourite place to eat near Yonge and Steeles. The fried dumplings have lots of flavour and great textures. The people who run this place are very warm.
The best pan fried dumplings in the GTA, I was only able to take one photo after devouring more than half the box. The wait time was a bit longer than normal, 20 minute wait as they are made to order so I would definitely order ahead, call before heading there. I was only able to get the pork and shrimp dumplings but I will definitely be back to try the rest of their menu! Give them a try it’s worth it!!

Wonton soup was very average, I had better pan fried bun at Toronto. This place is definitely over rated
It’s alright. Not my personal favourite place to get some Shengjian Bao, but it will satisfy my cravings enough. They are very juicy so that’s a plus, but the flavours are just not my preference.
Delicious and fresh. I’d have say a little better than my other beloved sang ji bao! Be prepared to wait a bit as it’s made per order. Will continue to support this mom and pop shop.

Buns are juicy, tasty and crunchy. Beef soup noodles and the dry noodles are super delicious.
I always come here for the most delicious food and excellent service. I’m greeted with kindness in this mom and pop shop every time. Do prepare to wait a bit longer for the freshest buns, my goodness each bite is filled with juicy soup and the texture is brilliant. Definitely support this business with out a doubt. 10/10 non. Stop. Excellence.
Very delicious! We waited for 15 min because all the buns were cooked after ordered. Next time can make a call 20 min earlier to save the wait time.
Authentic and yummy. It takes time for them to prepare but it’s worth the wait.
The best fried buns I have ever tried! My family and I have travelled 9 countries in Europe and North America during the last 30 days, the meal we had at Tan Da Ban was absolutely our favorite! If you travel to or live in Toronto, make sure you don’t miss this restaurant. We will definitely come and eat at this place again (all the way from Sweden).
