An establishment of the community. A must visit due to its history. Parking lot is large but during the holidays its tough to find a spot, so we just parked in the Farmer's Market lot. Very convenient.

Ambience is perfect; well lit but not bright, beautiful wood interior, comfortable seats at our table and of course, the encapsulating octaganol shape surrounds your evening.

They must renforce their attire policy. Wearing track pants and a hoodie to an establishment like this cannot be tolerated. Truly a micro sign of a macro problem we see in society today; loss of class and standards. If the restaurant requires you to use cutlery, make a reservation, offers wine, or has waiters in suits, you should at a minimum have a collar on your shirt.

Service was as expected; timely, professional, accomodating and knowledgeable. Great wine list. Sipped on a Rhone. Starters & appetizers were conventional, and I would say the same for their main offerings. However, they were prepared and presented nicely. Nothing new here. It feels like they've been providing the same experience for 50 years and this is not a bad thing. Sometimes, that's what you want. Consistency and reliability; especially from a steak house. That is what keeps people coming back.

Ordered steak & lobster; both cooked to perfection as requested. If you are looking for a new spin on steakhouses to post on Instagram, this is not it. If you are looking for a meal with dignity & class at a reasonable price, you'll be satisfied, just leave the hoodies at home. No funny business. Just good service, good food, and good people. 4.0 stars

What a wonderful experience I had my birthday here with my girlfriend and all the staff were extremely kind and sweet and professional. We had Eisan also helping out at our table and he was a pleasure. What a nice sweet man. Food was spectacular also… obviously!! What a great way to spend my birthday. If you guys ever want a meal on me come to my food truck it’s called “RJs Roadhouse” on Instagram and google! Octagon feels like family!

An absolute pleasure of a dining experience. Takes me back years to when a restaurant actually wanted customers to feel welcome, comfortable and happy with their choice in fine dining. With close attention to detail and table service that is second to none. The Octagon will leaving you feel satisfied beyond your expectations when it comes to food and drink. Their skilled staff in professional attire and experts in hospitality will look after everything from start to finish. Thank you for making this a birthday celebration that will never be forgotten.

The steak was very good , but the ambience was not good , too noisy , so many staff but running , to certain people ,the desert was disappointing for the price , expected a lot more , overall, for the service and food too expensive!

Service and quality is at their very best. Shrimp cocktail is massive and shareable, the table side Caesar is always a must. The seafood is great I’m not meat person and yes it’s a steakhouse but the seafood is out of this world.

Overall the food was decent, but doesn’t feel high end. Steaks were cooked very well and good cuts of meat. Potatoes were forgettable, but not bad, just something you’d expect at IKEA’s cafeteria more. Dessert was alright, nothing special. For what it is, definitely over priced on that end of the meal. Presentation is nonexistent and the food looks like it’s from a diner. The space is very nice, almost church like with the stain glass and ornate wooden decor. The service is not good, I’d say even rude. The host seating us basically nodded towards us and jogged away, I didn’t even realize he was seating us and he walked off so fast. He basically slammed the menus down and shrugged “here’s your table” and walked off abruptly. It was awkward and weird. Main waiter was in a terrible mood, seemed like he didn’t want to be there. Felt like he was annoyed and just miserable being there. Other waiters who dropped off the beer and such were better, but interacted only briefly with them. Overall, felt unwelcome to be honest.

We recently visited this long-established restaurant, drawn by its reputation. However, our experience was poor. Upon arrival, there was no formal greeting, and we didn’t feel the welcoming rapport you’d expect from a high-end establishment. The service was inconsistent; some staff members were indifferent, and a few interactions even came across as dismissive.

As for the food, several dishes lacked the depth of flavor we anticipated. For the price point, we had hoped for a more memorable culinary experience. In comparison, steakhouses in Toronto like Jacob’s, BlueBlood, and Morton’s offer not only a more attentive service but also a more satisfying dining experience overall.

This restaurant has potential, but there’s significant room for improvement in both service and food to truly stand out among its competitors.

First time at The Octagon. I'll be honest, for a well known Steakhouse that has been around for some time, experience was not the greatest. Food was good, but the service was just underwhelming. Our waiter never introduced himself, didnt ask if we were celebrating anything and just short with conversation. He was a seasoned team member. Maybe cause we look young and thought we wouldnt drop money but we know and have been to many steakhouses in the GTA and our experience was night and day. We didn't get a "thank you" or "Enjoy the rest of your evening" until the waiter left saw his tip and then came back to wish us a good evening. We tip well, even though he didn't deserve it, but we know the work it goes into being a server in high end restaurants. Maybe it was an off night for him, but our anniversary experience fell short. Food was good, my salad was heavily dressed and nothing special. I probably would not come back again. I would rather spend my money elsewhere where we feel welcomed and complete the whole dining experience. Don't get me wrong, this steakhouse is not bad, just has some areas of opportunity for customer service.

lovely little gem in the heart of thornhill. the octagon has been a staple here for steak the past few decades.

food: overall, great. steak is unbeatable and delicious. wish they didn’t serve the same size side for the small steak vs the bigger one, doesn’t even make sense. the caesar salad they make right in front of you is superb. it’s a bit different every time though, sometimes can lack flavouring. garlic bread is obviously great too, but not extraordinary. it lacks the fine dining aspects of amuse bouche between courses, you just get a tray of olives pickles and peppers as soon as you sit (and they’re not particularly great).

service: i almost didn’t come recently because when i called and spoke to the host, the guy was extremely rude. seriously i don’t know what he was so pissed about that day. his attitude was beyond uncalled for. when i saw him in person, he was much nicer. our server was exceptional thankfully. the somellier was also nice but not memorable.

atmosphere: tons of parking available. the building is literally an octagon and the stained glass is so beautiful. it’s very open concept but they also have private rooms. very beautiful inside and out.

for the price of fine dining, one might expect more. i prefer Terra down the street.

edit: owners response made me drop a star. saying “he’s just like that” is no excuse for an employee’s crass attitude. this is fine dining.

This is our first visit to your restaurant. There were no issues with the food, but the quality of service was very disappointing. We are dining at a restaurant where the bill exceeds three figures, not at a fast-food place. When we sat down, it seemed like every staff member did not want to make eye contact and just stood in one spot, even though there were only three or four tables of customers at the time……….

My lovely Puerto Rican boitoi Heratio and his special friend from the philippines Beezil treated me to a third wheel wylin' out. After our intense multi-national shindig we got steak. It was lovely.
