I bought a French palmier cookie today. And it was hard as hell. I could hurt my gums easily. I brought it back for exchange, and the person at the counter screamed at me in front of my baby that it was supposed to be like this. I never received such service before from a baker. Check your pastry before buying it.
This is my favourite bakery in Toronto by far. There's a great selection of baked goods, though mostly staples and not too many new flavours. Prices are very fair; I often find I can't justify the prices at other bakeries. The croissants are flakey and buttery, the danishes are fresh and tart, and the savoury pastries hit the spot. I find myself frequently finding excuses to visit since we moved since there's nothing like it in Leslieville.
In cabbage town and a Cute little bakery that seems to have some history and been around for a while. Small but has plenty of choices. A small table with a couple chairs outside to sit on the street to enjoy the pastry.
