The fish is extremely fresh and the vibe is cozy and inviting. Akai is exactly what we look for when we need a calm environment after a long day with some amazing sushi. If you are into loud music and fancy decor this won’t be your vibe but it is a hidden gem that is not talked about enough in my opinion.Always a great time there!

best local sushi, you can taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients.
We come here quite regularly since we live nearby! I think it’s the best sushi you’ll find for the price point downtown. It’s a little more expensive than some up on Bloor but the quality is better! Our favourites are the golden bridge roll and the sushi pizza with salmon.

Cozy hole in the wall sushi spot with good sushi! Restaurant is easy to get to and accessible via ttc. They have a wide selection of rolls and sets which are served nicely. Appetizers were ok - tried the veggie tempura and japchae.

There was even a wasp inside bothering us during our visit. Service was alright. They were also out of stock of the majority of their beverage menu which was strange and seemed like poor management.
