A local staple in Cabbagetown Chew Chew is a popular diner.
Great service, reasonably priced, and portions are big!
I had their steak and eggs Benedict, and wow, it was dense, rich, and overall delicious.
Steak was cooked medium rare and quite surprisingly it was a good cut of meat.
If in the area, do give this place a try

If you want a nice hearty breakfast for a decent price, this is the place to go. Be aware it can get a little crazy on the weekends so expect long wait times but the food will be hot and plentiful. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars for the atmosphere is it just isn't really somewhere you go for atmosphere. It's a little neighborhood diner and unless you're seated anywhere in the middle you're not going to have any natural light, it can be a bit cramped.

Just moved in to Toronto, this definitely the best place for breakfasts that I have tried so far. Also, Sherry is of great hospitality.

This place used to be nice to go to and reasonably priced for a filling Sunday brunch. This past Sunday that was not the case.
The place was busy when we arrived, but there were empty tables and no one waiting to be seated, yet it still took about 10 minutes to seat us.

We waited 15 minutes to order and then over an hour for our food. An hour. Then when the food came, my eggs were not cooked as requested. It took another 15 minutes to rectify this. Unfortunately the food was completely bland as well. I don't know how you make eggs benedict bland, but it really was.

You used to get a good helping of fruit on your plate at this diner. This time, one plate had about a quarter slice of melon and one had about a quarter slice of pineapple. My husband gave me his melon slice, however, when they brought my order back, both miniscule pieces of fruit had disappeared.

No apology. No reduction of our bill -- no offer to cover our beverages. Nothing.

We won't be heading back there again anytime soon. Unfortunate when places go downhill in service and quality and yet prices increase and portion sizes get smaller.

We had walked by this place many times and for a while it looked a little run-down, but recently underwent a renovation so we decided to give it a try. An excellent decision as this place makes an excellent breakfast. They have an amazing selection of eggs Benedict (Ham, bacon, smoked salmon, and even some vegetarian options. Everything has three eggs, so the breakfasts are large and filling. Everything was cooked perfectly and the coffee was bottomless! Service was typical diner friendly and the place was clean and welcoming. Washrooms are old and could use a reno, but they were nice and clean. Typical Toronto washrooms; down the basement.

Overall, a great place to get a hearty breakfast to get your day started!

Serendipitously happened upon this place yesterday. We were looking for a quick lunch spot. This is a cute little diner, which luckily happened to be not busy at lunchtime. Attentive service, very clean and quiet. We had hamburgers. Food was delicious!
Booths were tight, and bathroom was downstairs, and stairs were steep.
All in all a worthwhile spot to stop.

Great service - Johnny is the best even-tempered waiter ever! So glad we got his table. Always fantastic! We have not been back for years and wasn’t thrilled when the renovations weren’t done. Now that all new management is in place and Reno’s are done - looks great and clean!

Excellent all-day breakfast options in a cute, warm, diner atmosphere. The wait for the food was a bit long the day we visited for brunch, probably because there only seemed to be one chef in the kitchen - in which case, he did an outstanding job as the place was pretty full at that point!
