R&D has a beautiful space and the ambience was definitely the highlight of the evening. The atmosphere felt polished and lively, and the service was attentive and professional throughout. That said, the food didn't quite hit the mark for me. While everything was presented nicely, the flavours felt underwhelming compared to the expectations. It wasn't bad, but it didn't feel memorable or worth going out of my way for. Overall, a solid experience with great ambience, but not somewhere I'd personally rush back to.

Been here a handful of times and surprisingly this time around, service was very slow. Could be a one off but regardless food was delicious and consistent.

We sat at the kitchen bar. Staff was very friendly, customer focussed, and efficient. Ambiance was easy going and food was delicious!!

We did the Winterlicious menu and were not impressed. The food had was very one note (chicken was just sweet, the honey toast was plain). this place comes highly recommended so it was quite disappointing. We were sat right beside the door so the cold air hit us every time a customer came in. Maybe further into the restaurant the vibes are better. I'd like to give this place another try without Winterlicious because the dishes on that menu were extremely unimpressive.

Exceptional all around. The dishes aren't complex and yet the few ingredients used merge to create decadence and deliciousness. The service was highly attentive yet non-disruptive, and extremely hospitable. A lovely experience.

Absolutely spectacular service from start to finish. Cocktail did not disappoint, neither did the wine choice. Was a bit disappointed that I couldn't get hot sake. The shrimp toast was beautifully presented, however it tasted fatty and not as shrimpy as I would have liked. The main fried rice was gorgeous, intricately layered with texture and compelling flavours, however it was much too salty. I was presented with a complimentary mango ice cream and it was sublime. I'd come back to try other dishes, tho. It's a very hip place, cozy vibe and super talented service team.

I love(d) R&D, but this time it felt like the food and service wasn't up to its usual standards. The fried rice, usually one of my favourites, was very oily. Overall all the dishes were in decline compared to my last visit. Staff too, were lax and distracted, lacking their usual professionalism. Hopefully it was just an off night and not a trend.

Favourite peking duck in all of Canada and the mushroom fried rice is unlike no other! Always a must-visit when in town.

Wait staff first: they were very good - attentive without being annoying. As appetizers we (my fiancee and I)chose the pork wontons and the shrimp toast. The wontons were very good with a spicy sauce, so if your tastes don't run that way be aware. The shrimp toast was incredible. I could have eaten ten of those at least. Highly recommended. For mains we chose the fried chicken and the cavatelli. The wings were delicious - all meat and no bones to deal with. The cavatelli was the only sour note - they were extremely salty. Likely the result of using a salty sausage and then adding salt to the sauce. It was my fiancee's birthday (the greeter had taken note of this) so she got a dish of mango ice cream with sparkler. We ordered the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. It was excellent - not overly sweet and a good-sized portion.

The food was food but too salty, and when we told the waiter the feedback, he stopped coming back to our table, only to get the bill 😭

We had a great time at R&D . The service was great - very attentive staff . The food was amazing !! I have an allergy and was very surprised that they had a separate menu that pointed out the allergens in each dish . All in all , highly recommended- will be back for sure !

Food was outstanding. CSB, shrimp toast, fried chicken and fried rice all were excellent. And the price point was totally worth it. Highly recommend.

I had the buddha's secret passion cocktail and it was so delicious. Could have drank them all night. We ordered four plates (two dim sum, one small and one large) and it more than enough food for two people and we were quite full. The variety of flavours were dynamic and they were pleasantly unexpected (brown butter in Chinese food). Would recommend and would love to go back.

We ordered the pork & crab siu mai which were very nicely filled and full of flavor. We had the shrimp toast which was crunchy with a shrimp paste which was tasty. Also had the broccolini deliciously prepared, we had a little variant because of a nut allergy of one of our party, the staff was very accommodating in suggesting an alternate preparation and for the main course we had the Wok lobster and now we know why the chef won master chef Canada win this dish, the pasta have a super rich flavor, the lobster meat portion was satisfying for a party of two and we were very impressed by the dried lobster chip, IN-CRE-DI-BLE. Also I highly recommend the drink Buddhas secret passion, I was on the fence about this one because of the egg white foam but didn't taste it at all. Our server, Ray, was super attentive to detail, loved his service and vibe. Great restaurant all and all ✨✨✨

Great restaurant, this was our third visit and it did not disappoint; the duck is a must (remember to pre order at least 1 day in advance) as is the R&D fried rice.
