Some of the best Jamaican food in the city and the atmosphere is great. Music is also fantastic.

For our first night in Toronto for a girls' trip, we had dinner at Chubby's given the good reviews and me mentioning wanting to try the various Caribbean spots during our stay. The decor gives island vibes with the wooden furniture and tranquil color choice for decor. Staff were all pretty helpful, with you waiter being pretty attentive.

For my drink, I ordered the rum punch which was pretty good in the balance of flavorand alcohol content. In terms of food, the portions for my entree (Oxtail Stew) was a little smaller than I thought but or actually worked out well and was enough. The oxtail was cooked down, well seasoned and tender, but I felt like I got a lot of pieces that were just bone or pretty fatty. The other food/Likkle bites I ordered to share with one of my friends were also very good. The Pepper Shrimp definitely had a heavy kick of spice to it and tasty. I really enjoyed the Saltfish (Cod) Fritters - they were tasty, had a good chutney to go with it. The plantains were cooked perfectly so that they stayed soft.

All in all, we had a good dining experience.

Good food for sharing as group and the vibes are upscale cozy. Delicious curry goat and oxtail stew w/rice & peas! Tunes you can dance too while sitting and eating the sublime jerk chicken wings!

Definitely want to comeback and try more of the menu.

Great cocktails and probably the best Jamaican restaurant I’ve tried. Definitely recommend the mouth watering plantains and oxtail stew.

Honestly, this place isn’t value for money the food portions are minuscule , a Mac and cheese costs 20 dollars and it comes in such a little plate, I was like where’s the rest of it! The atmosphere’s great, service amazing but there are other places that have all these and are more value for your money!

Been here a few times and it’s been a unique experience everytime. I would recommend their Rum tasting, fried okra any day! Fried okra with banana gastrique sauce is my repeat dish!

Went here after a relaxing spa day. The food was okay and a bit on the salty side for me. Food portion is small and price is high. I guess you pay for them being mentioned on the Michelin guide and area that they are in. Service was good and our server was attentive. We were seated upstairs on the back and you can feel the cold breeze coming from the door to the back patio. We were also close to where the grill was but did not smell the food being cooked, they may have a fantastic ventelation. Would I go back probably not.

We live in New Jersey but we have been to Jamaica 30 times or more. I love Jamaican food. This food was as good or better than any food I’ve eaten in Jamaica. There were 8 of us. Between us we had oxtail red bean soup, curry goat, jerk chicken, fried okra, fried plantains, jerk fries with aioli sauce, chicken curry, slow baked jerk wings and 4 of the deserts. Everything was seasoned well. The spice levels were perfect. Savory and delicious. The reception and service were welcoming and enthusiastic. The ambiance felt truly Jamaican. Every aspect of our dining experience was wonderful. Go, you won’t be disappointed.

My first trip to Toronto wouldn't have been complete without a visit to Chubby’s, and I’m so glad it was at the top of my list. It definitely lived up to all the hype and more! I highly recommend making a reservation, as the place was buzzing—even on a Monday night. We were lucky to be seated fairly quickly as walk-ins, but it’s definitely a good idea to plan ahead.

The atmosphere at Chubby’s is the perfect mix of cozy and chic, with dim lighting that creates a romantic vibe—ideal for a date night or a fun evening with friends.

Now, the food—wow. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend and I shared the oxtail soup, medium jerk chicken, and fried plantains. The jerk chicken was, hands down, the best I’ve ever had (and I’ve had my fair share in Dallas, TX). But it was the fried plantains that truly stole my heart—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, just perfect. The oxtail soup, while flavorful, was a bit too bean-heavy for my taste (our server had warned us about that), but my boyfriend loved it and finished the entire bowl!

A huge shoutout to our server, Tiffany, who made our experience even better. She was incredibly kind and took the time to walk us through the menu since it was our first time at Chubby’s. She also made sure to ask about any dietary restrictions and took the time to chat with us about our visit to Toronto. Not only did she provide fantastic service, but she also gave us several great dining recommendations to try during the rest of our stay.

All in all, it was a fantastic experience, and I can’t wait to return next time I’m in Toronto. I'm jealous for anyone that lives nearby!

Restaurant should be renamed to skinny's not chubby's because with the tiny portions of that food i felt we were rationing for the war.
