Valentine’s Day afternoon at Clockwork is quite an experience. The atmosphere is calming and classy, you feel like a royalty. Every item is carefully crafted. You can taste quality in every bite. At $95/person it’s on the steep side but I look forward to going back in 2027. It’s a lovely way to spend a couple of hours sipping on tea and eat some treats in a beautiful place. My only complaint is that they only refill the pot without replacing tea bags… after one refill the tea is quite weak and not so enjoyable. I’d like for them to offer more than one flavour tea or at least put a fresh bag in with each refill.

Had the salmon tartare and it was so bad. Loud club music in this place is terribly out of place as well and ruins the vibe.
But then we ordered the beef sliders and wow.
I know exactly what the chef looks like based on these sliders. I know that man loves to EAT!
You see, most places try to make the burger fancy. And at a restaurant like this, you would expect them to. You end up ruining a burger by putting it on brioche buns and calling your mayo “aioli”.
The fast food burger - this is what you should strive for. I would compare these sliders to five guys. The chef who cooked that should honest to god QUIT and open a burger joint! They were a phenomenal American style burger on a delicious sesame bun - classic American, with mac sauce and pickles .. 🤤

Had the martini. It was good. Waiter was cool. Good vibe of course. But good god was the salmon tartare bad and so expensive.

Clockwork is a lovely location for good food and drinks. However the atmosphere does not seem to match the decor. The lovely setting with velvet banquet seating and soft lighting is jarringly out of place with the loud club style music which eliminates any easy conversation between patrons. Such a shame to do that to such a setting. A real miss.

Went for breakfast and ordered Eggs bennies medium poached. Eggs were raw. Had no time for replacement. No salt and pepper at table. Not a good impression. I've eaten at a lot of Fairmont restaurants and bars.. This was least favourite by far.

The Clockwork Bar is inside the Fairmont Royal York. It is a small space in the middle of the lobby but it is beautifully designed in a contemporary art deco style, with a variety of comfortable seating options. The aisles between tables are a bit narrow for wheelchairs but they are very kind and accommodating and can move things as needed. The service was great and snacks and drinks at the bar were yummy though very pricey. They are also a great option for an early breakfast inside the hotel.

We had an exceptional experience at Clockwork. The environment was relaxing, food amazing (also very accommodating for food dislikes), and the service of all staff we interacted with was friendly, polite and very professional. Would definitely come here again!!

I was looking forward to this experience thinking the Fairmont would have a traditional high tea. Things that stood out was the opulence of the hotel but I was hoping that the tea would be in a room set for this service not in the lobby bar area. The service was excellent and attentive with a pianist playing in the back ground. The food was ok but nothing that would bring me back for a 2nd time. The staff was very attentive to the needs of one of us being vegetarian but our overall disappointment was the scones. They were the size of timbits. I ended up asking for more of them because their size was pitiful and honestly they should be embarrassed serving them. It’s an experience but it looked like the food was better once the bar turned into dinner service after 4pm.

Tea at the Royal York is a wonderful experience. The setting is charming and the service is exceptional. The food is delicious. I couldn't have had a better experience to celebrate my birthday.

Unfortunately seems to be understaffed. And the waiter unfortunately didn't know much about the champagne 🥂. But will give another try for sure. Such a pretty place

Lovely experience as usual. It's the best Afternoon Tea in Toronto for sure. Service is great, food is delicious, atmosphere is beautiful.

My daughters & I brought my Mom to Tea to celebrate her 91st Birthday. Everything was incredible....the service, table setting, food, tea, live pianist, ambience, all 10/10. They did some special lemon tarts for my Mom as they are her favourite. Thank you Clockwork for making this occasion so special!!

Alexandra

Went to afternoon tea with my young adult son (20). We thoroughly enjoyed the food/drink, atmosphere (holiday) and the service was amazing. The menu was amazing with just the right amount of diversity and sophistication - clearly well sourced ingredients which was reflected in the cost, but definitely worth it. Servers were attentive but not overbearing. It was a wonderful experience to end our holiday season. Thank you very much!! I cannot say enough positive things!
