Discovering Hidden Italian Magic on Yonge Street

Sometimes restaurant magic happens when you least expect it, and Coppi Ristorante is proof of that. Tucked away on Toronto's bustling Yonge Street, this Italian gem surprised me with its extraordinary hospitality - they even opened specially on a Sunday just for our group!

The moment I stepped inside, the kitchen's authentic Italian aromas whispered promises of a memorable meal. Their signature dishes - the creamy risotto and pillowy gnocchi - were absolute showstoppers. Each bite transported me straight to a cozy trattoria in Italy, with rich, nuanced flavors that spoke of genuine culinary passion.

What truly elevated the experience was the outstanding service. The staff moved with a graceful attentiveness that made us feel simultaneously pampered and completely at ease. They weren't just serving food; they were sharing a piece of their culinary heritage.

For anyone craving an authentic Italian dining experience in Toronto, Coppi Ristorante isn't just a restaurant - it's a delightful culinary journey. Whether you're a pasta enthusiast or simply looking for an exceptional meal, this spot delivers pure gastronomic joy.

Super cute and might be the best linguine I’ve ever had! The staff were very sweet and friendly. They have no tipping and an added gratuity of 20% on all checks. This is so that staff get paid a livable wage I believe, but feel like this should be the responsibility of the restaurant itself maybe? Regardless, great vibes and amazing food (and drinks)!

The food in general was good. But the steak was salty and we reported to the waitress and she exchanged a new one.

Came here for Summerlicious with a friend to celebrate a belated birthday. We both had the halibut as our main which was okay but nothing spectacular. However, we both really enjoyed our starters (pear salad and grilled octopus) and our desserts (panna cotta and tiramisu)!

Atmosphere was really nice and had a homey vibe, not overly upscale. Majority of staff were attentive and friendly. As another commenter said, you can feel the subway go by and some may find it annoying.

The starters took quite a while to arrive and we were limited to two hours. Prices are on the higher side and service charges are automatically applied so do keep that in mind! And finally, one of the staff members (or owner?) brought us our bill without us asking...which felt somewhat like being kicked out.

The restaurant charges 15.95% HST on food! Do they actually pay 15.95% to the government or are they tricking the customers to pay more without realizing it?

Edit July 2025:
Just ate here for Summerlicious and a huge disappointment compared to our past Winterlicious experience. My husband ordered a steak dish that was missing the pototoes it was advertised with. We were told there was a typo in the menu after we brought it to their attention and were offered no apology and nothing discounted or free to make up for this mistake. Furthermore we ordered one of each desserts and only the panna cotta was really good. The limoncello tiramisu was very bland and had no hint of lemon and the buddino was a watered down mess that was more drinkable than edible in terms of its texture. My daughter’s bolognese pasta was also overcooked and the pappardelle were glued together as a result. Too bad as we were hoping to have just a good experience but this time was a miss so we probably won’t be returning in future.

Feb 2025: I hadn’t eaten at this restaurant in many years and my husband and I had the idea to return for winterlicious. So glad we did as they were so kind to accommodate us despite being fully booked and yet we didn’t feel rushed in any way. The service was impeccable and warm and the food was amazing and the portions were very Generous for the pre set meal options. We will definitely be returning sooner next time!

One of the most delicious restaurants I have ever eaten at. The service was spectacular, the drinks made with love, and the food tasted like it was all cooked in Italy. 10/10 fully recommend.

We went to Coppi for a birthday celebration and there were some aspects that were so disappointing. Young inexperienced waitstaff to begin with. We were asked if we would line bread and we said yes and it never arrived! My husband and I were sharing the burrata salad (meh) and I asked the waiter for extra plates as I was saving our side plates for the bread. The owner refused to give us the extra plates!
Among the assorted vegetables that was presented to me with my fish, the string on the snap peas was not removed and was impossible to eat. A restaurant of this caliber should know better!

We had a lovely evening at Coopi! My partner and I came here for a date night, and the experience definitely impressed us.

To start, we had the FRITTO MISTO — it could’ve been a bit crispier and a tad saltier, but the freshness of the seafood really stood out, so no complaints there. For our mains, I had the RISOTTO PORCINI — honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. It was made table-side and it was, rich, and full of flavor. My partner ordered the GRIGLIATA DI MARE, which was also incredibly fresh and well-prepared. I had the tiramisu for dessert, which was really good — a lovely way to finish the meal.

We also enjoyed two of their cocktails — the Giro D’Italia and an Espresso Martini — and shared a nice bottle of red wine. Everything was absolutely delicious and complemented the food perfectly.

Service was warm and attentive. Sabrina took care of us and she was incredibly sweet, checking in throughout the night and making sure we had everything we needed.

Overall, a fantastic experience — amazing food, great drinks, excellent service, and a cozy atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

One of the best Italian restaurants in Toronto. The food is amazing. They are flexible if you need to customize a dish. Nice wine too. You won’t go wrong at Coppi.

We went in for dinner. I had ordered the tagliatelle bolognese with braised pork and veal. The meal was salty but the most disappointing part is that there was no braised beef or pork as seen on previous pictures and described on the menu, it was all ground meat. There is also a mandatory 20% gratuity which I wouldn’t mind so long as you uphold the quality of your food, which was not the case. Overall a disappointing experience. Would not go back.

Dinner was great here! Seafood pasta and Zuppa di Pesche were fantastic. Service was good - will come here again

Their mandatory 18% tip is outrageous. The service was non existent and slow since the staff is entitled to a high tip. We waited too long for everything including water, order taking, food, bill.

The waiter had a cold attitude and practically did not speak to us at all. Especially during and after we paid the bill.

I am happy to tip for good service but the waitors attitude was disappointing and entitled.
