Came to El Ray with my bestie and was given EXCEPTIONAL service by Jeremy. We were very well taken care of — someone give this man a RAISE.

Great food a real gem 💎 and people
Birria was so good I had to splash some on my shirt to save for later. thankfully, the amazing staff came through with some club soda and soapy cloth and rescued me.
Their collaboration beer with burdock, Lagerita Con Mezcal, is easily one of the best beers I’ve ever had in my life.
El Rey Mezcal Bar – Kensington Market, Toronto
Sunny Sunday in Kensington Market, and we found ourselves on the patio at El Rey. We had our pup with us, and the staff were on top of it—water was brought out right away without us even asking. That kind of attention goes a long way.
A fast two margaritas, guac and chips, and we were happy, happy, happy. Then came the ceviche—bright, with just the right amount of heat. Great flavours.
This is some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in a long, long, long time. Five stars is five stars. Thank you, Neil.
Great patio space with nice, stiff cocktails for a nightcap.
Best guacamole ever!

Came here on a whim, and I was impressed! The food was amazing (and not too expensive).
Their menu is limited which means they really have perfected the dishes they carry. I loved everything I ate, the ceviche, the tacos, and the dessert.
The service was great too! Our server was really friendly, and took the time to explain the dishes (as one of my friends has an allergy).
I also had my dog with me (their patio is dog friendly) and they brought him a cup of water. I will definitely be back here, this place has been added to my favourites list.

Really cool atmosphere at night. Great place for a date or hangout with friends. The service is good. One of the rare places out there that do not rush you with the bill.
A quick guide for people who like to eat a lot like me ?:
Prices are around 15$ for 2 tacos. Almost half the price you get at Campechano (13-15$/taco), but still higher than say Anejo’s happy hour where tacos go for 4$.

For me this is a hidden gem, mexican with a twist. I was surprise to find good amount of glutten free options and havent come across in any mexican place. The cocktails are must try. Here is what we had:
1. Crispy squid tacos (5/5)
2. Alpastor tacos (4/5)
3. Aguachile Negro (5/5)
4. Meet my sunshine (3/5)
5. Limonero (5/5)
6. Tres Leches (5/5)
Overall we came across amazing dishes, however crispy squid taco and tres leches are a must try and highly recommended. Their menu keeps changing with seasons I gues. So I will be heading in October again for sure. Let me know your experience.
