If you’re looking for somewhere to celebrate a birthday in Toronto, Enigma Yorkville is a must. The vibe is classy but warm, and every dish looks like art on a plate. From the presentation to the flavors, everything feels special — the kind of night you’ll keep thinking about long after it’s over.

Giving 2 stars only for the visual presentation of the dishes! they did look elegant. Unfortunately, the experience ended there.
The wagyu steak wasn’t marbled at all and tasted more like liver than wagyu. The appetizer was decent, but the dessert was just three small cookies with chocolate, nothing impressive. Even the decaf coffee didn’t taste right.
Despite many empty tables, they seated a loud couple right next to us, and we could barely hear each other talk. The servers were serious and not friendly, and the tip was automatically added to the bill without a clear breakdown.
Overall, I’ve had far better experiences at other Yorkville restaurants. Definitely not planning to return.

I’m still super bitter about my experience a few weeks back that I’m writing about it now.
short version: they didn’t have a host which meant we waited a while to be seated, somm/ manager Li was not very welcoming, they didn’t confirm my extra dishes that I pre booked online and when they realized after they had forgotten it they gave no apology and just handed me the bill.
Long version: We arrived to no host and stood waiting until a staff member finally seated us. Dinner was fine until the sommelier handed me a pamphlet of add-ons—even though I had already pre-ordered caviar for my friend’s birthday. To avoid ruining the surprise, I stayed quiet and ordered the premium wine pairing to share, which seemed to irritate him. Service shifted after that.
We reached dessert with no explanation, and only at the end were we told the restaurant didn’t have the caviar. No apology, no service recovery, just the bill.
On a side note, the somm/manager is super knowledgeable about wine but that’s where the impressiveness seems to end. There’s a lack of personality, personal touch and table touching which makes me sad bc I really use to like this place. (The servers and server assistants were great, my criticism is of Mr. Li since he seemed to have taken charge of the table.)
The food is decent but I fear that this has become yet another place that rides on the Michelin star name to drive traffic but has forgotten what made them great to begin with.
I’m hoping things change here so I can come back again on a more semi-regular basis.

Went for my fiancé birthday. Everything except burgundy availability was excellent and they more than made up for that. So much going on in every course (we had the 8 course tasting). We were very impressed. The current menu is perfect for fall and every dish was elegant and delicious. Well done!!

Great food at a premium price. Pace was a little fast; you'd have your next dish in front of you right after the last one finished. Dishes were well-executed and creative, portions were maybe a touch small. Worth trying once; not a lot of compromise on ingredients here, but hard to justify the price beyond that. Recommend the cocktail pairings!
Absolutely incredible across the board. From the service to the quality of cuisine, Enigma outperforms.
Fabulous welcome by Daria. The tasting experience did not disappoint. Pleased that some could pair with cocktails while others could choose wine. Highlights to note - service was very attentive. Starting snacks/tasty bites were very flavorful. Duck breast and marigold milk bread was amazing. The maitake mushroom actually outshone the wagyu beef!! Kudos to chef sarah for a pear tart that was exquisite and stood out in an impressive menu of many delights. The wine pairings were perfect however the pours were not on the generous side. Loved the personal touches of the chefs/staff coming to the table. A beautiful evening of celebration and reconnection. Lovely staff - it is a loud atmosphere and sometimes difficult to hear the descriptions across the table.
Every course in the tasting menu was delicious! I enjoyed the complexity and delicate balance of flavors with each dish. I could not pick a favorite as all were good.
I really wanted to like this restaurant and had such high hopes. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations.
Before our visit, I clearly communicated my husband’s shellfish allergy over the phone and again in person. At most Michelin-starred restaurants or tasting experiences, the chef or manager acknowledges dietary restrictions — but no one here did.
At the start, our server described the types of dishes we’d be receiving, yet course after course we were served only vegetarian items. By the fifth course, we realized something was off and asked if the steak or duck were still to come. We were told the mushroom dish was our final savory course. At that point, the kitchen was already closing and could only offer dessert.
For a restaurant of this caliber, that was incredibly disappointing. The service itself was polite but felt oddly robotic — almost “Squid Game”-like — though the drink pairings were well done. Unfortunately, there’s nothing about this experience that would make me want to return.

Incredible service, exemplary food. Very accommodating of dietary restrictions and a beautiful experience for my sister's birthday.
Enigma Yorkville in Toronto offers a sophisticated seasonal blind tasting menu crafted by Chef Quinton Bennett. The restaurant specializes in fine dining with a creative, modern approach that blends international influences—especially Nordic and Japanese precision—with Canadian ingredients. Guests do not order from a menu; instead, they experience a curated series of courses that evolve throughout the year to highlight seasonal produce and local flavours.
The dinner experience typically includes eight to ten courses, while lunch features a slightly shorter version with about five. The tasting journey lasts approximately two and a half to three hours, and it’s designed to be immersive, refined, and visually stunning.
The service is attentive and highly knowledgeable, and staff often explain each course with detail and enthusiasm. The ambience is elegant yet intimate, making it ideal for special occasions such as anniversaries or celebrations. Guests also praise the drink pairings, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options that complement the progression of flavours.

Excellent food. Attentive and professional service. Warm engagement with the Chef. Top marks.
Amazing experience! We had our anniversary dinner here and the staff was great at making the experience truly a remarkable one!
We dined at the chefs counter and had an absolutely marvelous meal. The service and food were both exceptional, and several of the dishes were until any I'd tasted before. Highly recommend
