Everyone who works there is kind and always says hello to me. The other customers are generally not respectful of the neighborhood in the way that they take up the whole sidewalk and often force elderly people and people with baby carriages to walk in the street. So I prefer to buy the food as groceries either on Tuesdays or after lunch hours even though I love what Leo has prepared for his menu.
Lining up for an hour in the sun for Famiglia Baldassare's fresh pasta truly is the real Torontonian experience. This is my favorite fresh pasta in Toronto and I always love to try whatever daily pasta they are making that day. I also love their fresh mozzarella ball! Make sure you bring some water and some shade while you wait in line, I saw someone about to faint after being in line for so long.
Famiglia Baldasarre is extreme consistent and always worth a visit.
I ordered the potato salad, prosciutto and melon, broccoli cavatelli, and tiramisu.
My broccoli cavatelli was good, not great. I was hoping for something a bit more boldly flavoured (more salty umami from the anchovies), but I still enjoyed the simple dish.
Everything else was excellent!
