Food Stands near Toronto, ON

“The proprietor of “Balkan Girl Grill”, Sandra, is one of the sweetest, friendliest and hardest-working people around - and she makes a mean ćevapi sandwich too. While exploring University Avenue between Dundas and College (downtown Toronto), this little food stand appeared advertising, “Must Try Chevapi! Food Heaven”.

I ordered a ćevapi sandwich on lepinja bread containing 5 baby kebabs (also available in 10), smothered with kajmak (Balkan cream cheese), and ajvar (roasted red pepper sauce). It may be an eclectic mix for North American tastes, however the creamy richness of the kajmak and the sour edge of the ajvar complemented the grilled veal/beef/lamb ćevapi (kebabs) nicely. Food Heaven indeed!

It takes a bit of time to prepare (10-15 min), and it’s fresh and tasty. It is suggested to text in your order 20 minutes ahead of time (per the screenshots below).“

“The best fruit bubble tea you can get in Toronto. Annie’s Tea House is ridiculously good, and well priced. She uses fresh fruits and boba is included as a topping everytime. The space is a bit small so seating is limited, but a great place for boba if you’re in the area and want to skip the big chains.“
