This was my 3rd time at George and the first visit was still the best.
This one really missed the mark (especially the service) and the 4* review might be a little high.
The 7 course tasting menu is $165: don’t charge $5 for bread. I would rather you charged me $170 and included the bread.
All the servers and people who came to the table seemed rushed and went through the motions.
Not one smile and we couldn’t hear the food descriptions. When we asked any questions they were confused about who had which dish (we both had different dishes). They could not figure out who had which fish or which cheese on the cheese course. At one point a server told us we were about to get our mains when we were only on our 3rd course. We ordered a bottle of wine and we told the waiter that we only wanted a little in our glass at a time to keep it cold. He walked by filled the glasses right up and when he walked back in the opposite direction he was going to fill them even more 2 min later and we hadn’t drank anything.
Here’s a really bad one. My girlfriend has food allergies to edible flowers and when the waiter asked if I was ok with fois gras I told him I couldn’t eat that due to a health reason. Our mains come and mine has fois gras on the plate and my girlfriend’s has 2 edible flowers. The servers really don’t listen. We each had 2 of 7 dishes we didn’t like. They never come over to check how it’s going so it wasn’t until the waiter saw I didn’t eat my dessert that he asked if I liked it. Every table got a chocolate gift with the bill we did not.
The meal cost nearly $600 but really missed the fun factor for doing a tasting menu. We have gone to many tasting menus around the world and I would not rush back to George. At this level the food has to be great(5 courses were) and the service has to be great too! It wasn’t! We thanked the people who took away our dishes and not one said you’re welcome.
We were celebrating a birthday and I left disappointed. We’re lucky as this could have been much worse with the allergies.
Slow down George! Tell your servers to smile and give some personality. Not so mechanical
You have to be more diligent when it comes to allergies!!!!!! (See pic with fois gras on my plate)
Most of all make sure your staff are properly trained if you ever want a Michelin Star not just a mention!
I personally would not rush back!

Tasting menu is great, but go with some you can swap food with as the tasting are blind and different.

The service was 150%, the food with the wine pairing was absolutely perfect. We had a lovely birthday dinner with adults and kids. It was just superb!

Best tasting menu in Toronto. We go every year on my birthday for the 10 course and they never disappoint. Service and food is impeccable. Wine pairings are excellent. Worth the splurge.

I hate leaving bad negative review and never do but I feel the need to share so others wouldn’t be trapped and misbehaved like this hiding behind a so called restaurant policy. Very unprofessional management. Had reservation for in the evening which had to cancel due to unexpected event. Despite reasonable request and the intention to make reservations for another date, when told about being charged cancellation fee despite giving them proper in advance notice, they still refused to cooperate. Seems $25 or $50 cancellation fee is what they are after. Such a shame I was looking forward to this place. Good luck to this restaurant behaving like this fashion.

Absolutely the Best!!! We have been coming here for years and we are never disappointed. We always get the same server (by design?) and Kimberley is always a delight, the consummate professional level of friendliness and attentiveness without being intrusive. She remembers us and we always feel special.
The food is always spectacular. The first time we came we had the 7 course tasting menu and it was too much for us. We are light eaters. We are always very satisfied with the 5 course tasting menu.
We have eaten at many places of similar caliber and (sometimes higher) price point and George is consistently the best experience. The courses are always so well planned and executed that every bite is pleasure.
Our most recent visit we got to sit at the chef's table. The kitchen is fairly open anyway but this table looks right in and we enjoyed watching the bustle and hard work that goes into everything. The patio on the back is gorgeous!

We were early and went to the speakeasy. The drinks come at a price but are seriously amazing! We had booked the tasting menu special but upgraded to the 5 course menu. We ordered amazing wine (2 bottles) and dined on some of the best food around. This is seriously the best restaurant we have eaten at in the city. A must try! Worth every penny.
My first experience on a Michelin star restaurant and it was so worth it, loved the food and attention the personnel gives you. 10/10 recommend
quite possibly the best gelato i’ve ever had
Very promising but so under delivered meal.
I took 5 course vegetarian meal but ask for no dessert. Instead chef sent me a mixed green salad with packaged guacamole which server called avocado chutney. My cheese course I asked without cheese so it was fruit plate which was delicious. To sum up fruit plate, mixed greens and 3 vegetable courses $115.
As far as the food, each plate is a display of ingredients without any connection to each other. None of the dishes were homogenous or complete. Very disappointing, maybe a chef was tired or out of ideas that night.
Service was impeccable.
This was a wonderful experience for my husband and me! The food was incredible, impeccably timed for the tasting menu, and creative. Our server was remarkable as well!
