Lovely place for vegan alternatives to some Italian classics. Staff was so kind and friendly and attentive to us, and the food was so delicious. The foccacia bread was airy and perfectly crisp and fluffy. The Vegan meatballs had great flavor, and the gnocchi was amazing!! Everything was great! Just sad because we realized later on we were billed incorrectly and ended up paying $20 more but realized only after leaving the restaurant. Overall highly recommend this spot for dinner, regardless of if you are vegan/vegetarian!

I went to Gia for the first time yesterday and have nothing but great things to say! Thank god for the simpatica pre-set menu as the regular menu would have been way too difficult to choose from.

Rigatoni bolognese, meatballs, foccacia and both of the cakes were the standout items.

What an incredible culinary experience!

We went to Gia for their NYE set menu. I enjoyed everything but it didn’t blow me away. The cashew Brie was my favourite thing on the menu, it was so good. The tortilli was good but nothing crazy. Updated from previous review on 2026-01-02

My family and I went to Gia for NYE dinner last night to close off a fantastic 2025 and welcome in 2026. Located in a trendy part of Toronto, this plant-forward restaurant was warm (literally, on a cold winter night) and welcoming as soon as we walked in.

The dinner started with a very decadent and lightly salted focaccia along with brie (we got to try both plant-based and dairy versions). Both types of brie were good but it was the accompanying fig jam and hot red pepper jelly that elevated the tasting experience providing a sweet and tangy balance to the saltiness and creaminess of the brie.

The second course was the baby gem salad, which was by far the best part of the entire meal. The gem lettuce tossed in a tangy vinaigrette provided a very fresh crunch that was further accentuated by the crispy shallots. The pangritata was the cherry (or breadcrumbs) on top for us, providing the additional cheesy flavour. The wild mushrooms that topped the salad were a bonus but not a necessity.

We got all five dishes for the third course but in all honesty, we were not amazed. A couple highlights were the spiciness of the eggplant parmigiana, the crispy sage on the risotto, and the tortelli which tasted like pumpkin pie (very mixed feelings on this).

If the gem salad was the best part of the meal, the tiramisu was a very close second. With the perfect blend of sweet, bitter, creamy and fluffy, all it took was one bite for us to (self) declare this the best tiramisu in the city!

Overall, the upscale, vegetarian/vegan-friendly dining experience at Gia was great for the value and ambience.

I'm begging you to bring back the I Should Live in Salt tomato-tini! 🍅 I literally dream about it.

I’ve been wanting to try Gia for over a year now and figured my birthday would be the perfect chance - I was right! I have been vegetarian for almost 10 years and this is some of the best food I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, flavoured (yet not overpowering), and the right portion sizes (more than enough to fill you especially getting an appetizer, main and dessert but not too filling). The service was pretty normal, nothing to necessarily “write home about” but was perfectly pleasant and they put a birthday candle in the dessert I ordered. We ended up going for the “Simpatica” menu at $47 each person for each course which was perfect for us and such a valuable price point especially for the quality of food. The vibes and atmosphere were also perfect, definitely nice and decorated beautifully but not intimidatingly so. My partner is not vegetarian and absolutely loved it as well, even complimented it above a couple of our other favourite restaurants in the city that do serve meat dishes! Overall, would recommend and can’t wait to return. Also hoping to try their sister restaurant Stefano’s soon!

Amazing Vegan/Veggie Italian! Absolutely incredible. I didn’t eat the Gnocchi or the risotto because they had cow cheese in but my friends said they were the best they’d had. The lions mane steak was AWESOME!

A very OK restaurant experience. The foccacia was amazing, the ravioli and the tiramisu were fine but forgettable. The service was very fast to the point I felt like we were being kicked out at fast as possible - we had barely put down our forks when our plates where whisked away and the next course was on our table. 30 seconds after we finished dessert the bill was on the table. It felt like a hurried transaction from the side of the restaurant. I understand that they need to fit in as many customers as possible in one night because margins are tight, but this approach does not win repeat customers.

Also, $18 is the cheapest a glass of wine available..

We got the tasting menu. We really like the eggplant Parmesan and the bolognese pasta! The Brie cheese they made with cashew is surprisingly very good and feels like the real Brie cheese.
Everything else was ok.

Excellent food, lovely ambiance and great service however the pace and intensity of service when the restaurant was not full was unsettling and felt unnecessary.
If there was a huge demand with a full house it would be understandable. We were the last inside table leaving tbe restaurant around 920 pm and it felt like a constant push until we left.

The food was delicious and well executed. But the service was lacking. We felt rushed and unwelcome. Thanks but no thanks.

I really enjoyed my meal here, the food was all top notch. We had vegetarian rather than vegan options.
The prix fixe menu is a good deal for the amount of food and options available.
I'd rate it closer to 4.5, but the higher prices (outside of prix fixe) knock it down a bit.

To say that Gia elevates dining is an understatement. What will genuinely surprise you is their ability to elevate vegetables and vegetarian food to a completely new level. Chef Miriam and the staff at Gia is doing magic and making each dish sing.

The space itself is beautiful. If you're lucky to grab a table in the front during the sunset, you'll be bathed in the warm glow as you sit among a romantic and refined atmosphere. The exposed brick and warm tones create this inviting tone to the evening.

Service is attentive, kind, and warm. They're often coming around to ensure every bite is delicious and they're very good at offering their perspective on what's a favourite to try and explore.

As for the food, it's incredibly delicious. It takes an artistic and skilled hand to make simple vegetables sing. Chef Miriam does it so easily and consistently that it easily makes Gia a stand out to return over and over.

Her beet dish is beautifully plated with bright colours and bold flavours that teases out the earthy sweetness of the beets and compliments the brighter punchier acidity of the dressing. Her cavatelli pasta is just perfectly al dente and had a nice spice note to compliment the mildy bitter rapini and bright lemon note. The vegan sausage was a nice savoury note to the dish. We also enjoyed the very meaty seared lion's mane ... it's amazing how flavourful it was.

Overall, you can enjoy this dinner on many levels and it's easy to see it being a top favourite of mine. Great service, beautiful atmosphere, and incredibly stunning plates of delicious food.
