Their general Tao will impress you if you don’t like flavours
Missing umami and kick.. just sugar and batter
Came here for drinks on a Sunday evening and ended up staying for dinner. A friend brought me here for drinks while we killed time before dinner. Their cocktails are mainly Baiju based which was pretty cool. I tried the rose lemon tea which tasted like the lemon tea from the Vitasoy box. The lucky red was also delicious and I tried a bunch of custom made cocktails which were all really good. My favorite part about Hong Shing is that the drinks are reasonably priced and they have happy hour specials!
We decided to stay for dinner and ordered the lobster with ginger onion sauce, rice noodles with beef, garlic bok choy, roasted duck and hot and sour soup. All dishes were good and I want to come back to try more dishes.
Highly recommend and would come back. Special thanks for Vince, Ranger and Clemon for the great hospitality!

Had the lunch set menu which was $18 for select appetizers (three soups to choose from) and an entrée: some kind of meat dish or vegetarian dish with rice or stir-fried noodles.
Great value for the amount of food you get and pretty decent quality.
Service was fine - need additional prompting sometimes because they take a while, but okay if you’re not in too much of a rush.

Went down on Christmas day, had duck for the first time. The meat was full of flavour. Despite the restaurant being very busy with deliveries and patrons, I was served very quickly and efficiently. Definitely will become my go to restaurant for a meal downtown.

Good Chinese food at a very good price.
I had fish maw soup and duck. Both were delicious and the portions very generous.

Went to dinner early on a December Saturday evening. It wasn’t at all busy. It was dimly lit and drafty. Needed my phone flashlight to read the menu. It was the typical Chinese fare and nothing extraordinary compared all many other Chinese restaurants in the area. Pricing was good and portions were large. Server was a bit of a newby but did her best. Not memorable enough to go back.
