Many new customers probably go to house of chan expecting different things. This isn’t a traditional steak house, and it’s not a Chinese restaurant. People who have been going here for 20+ years understand its more nuanced. It’s both somewhere in between and neither of the two. They do a few things really really right, some things OK, but the atmosphere is homey and nostalgic for many, and the service and hospitality is incredible, and the little fix ins and accoutrements...
Decided to finally check this place out after hearing all the hype, and I'm baffled what all the praise is about. The food is decent - nothing spectacular, and similar to any strip-plaza Chinese take-out restaurant.The big difference is the at least double to triple the price for all their dishes, and the much less portions you get from any other take-out Chinese restaurant. And as far as them having the best chicken balls, they were okay, but not even close to the best chicken...
