Food quality is high. However, there is no service at all in the self-service format and there are few seats, but you are required to pay for trips.

J SAN is our typical go to for sushi. We usually order their party trays. However, today, in addition to our typical order we added a dynamite roll and black dragon roll.
For the first time we were shocked and disappointed. The roll in reality look so sad compare to the one shown online. The amount tobiko was nowhere near their marketing photos on the website.

I've only had take out from here but got to try dine in. Really enjoy eating here. The sushi and sashimi is very fresh and great prices. I think their winning dishes are their party trays, rolls, torched sushi and. Sushi. I had the build your own donburi and it was a little underwhelming so I don't think I'd get it again (you only get 1 piece of raw fish). But everything else is very delicious. There isn't a lot of seating and it gets very busy around dinner time. So be prepared for a line (both to order or for seating) if you go for prime dinner time. And don't expect to have a leisurely dinner to eat and chat because other guests will stare you down rudely as they wait for a table and if they see you're done eating.

Very fresh takeout sushi restaurant, served in large portions. The cuts of salmon are very thick. You can order on their website ahead of time, typically takes around 30 minutes.
They have some seating available inside, but it may be difficult to find a seat. They also have some desserts in the fridge.
Definitely worth trying out.
Free parking at this plaza for 3 hours.

This is my third time ordering from Jsan. The food is still the same—so good and so fresh—I love it! The price remains the same, but the portion sizes have changed. The portions are so small. I ordered a donburi (O-toro, salmon belly, scallop, and yellowtail), and it only came with one piece of each… The O-toro costs $7, and I only got one piece…

I visited JSan Steeles for the first time on Sunday, February 25, 2025. Since my group was passing near the Markham location, we decided to stop in for a dine-in dinner.
What was supposed to be a quick meal turned into a frustrating wait. Despite being well-staffed, service was extremely slow, with orders taking 45-60 minutes to arrive. Even during a dinner rush, this felt excessive. Since we had already ordered and paid, we had no choice but to wait—but I noticed several walk-in customers leave after hearing the wait time.
That said, the sushi was high quality and consistent with the downtown Toronto location.
However, the slow service and congestion at this location could impact business in the long run.
Here are a few suggestions to improve efficiency…
1. Ordering Transparency: Display estimated wait times near the entrance to help customers decide before lining up. QR code ordering or UberEats pre-orders could streamline kitchen operations, allowing dine-in customers to order from their phones and receive an order number displayed on a screen. Takeout wait times should also be communicated upfront.
2. Clear Pickup & Market Area: A designated space for UberEats, Fantuan, and takeout pickups would reduce congestion. Currently, customers browsing the market section must navigate through the order line.
3. Separate Dine-In & Takeout Prep: A dedicated team for takeout and delivery would ensure dine-in guests aren’t delayed. A notification system for takeout customers (allowing them to wait elsewhere) could also ease in-store crowding.
4. Rearrange the Market Layout: The fridges for fish and drinks are placed too close to the order line, creating chaotic traffic flow. Relocating them could improve movement within the store.
5. Provide a Customer Washroom: It’s inconvenient to send customers to neighboring businesses, especially for families, the elderly, or those with urgent needs. Since JSan serves food and drink, a washroom should be accessible for dine-in guests.
I hope this feedback is helpful! JSan offers fantastic food, but the long wait times, disorganization, and lack of amenities could drive customers away. Looking forward to seeing improvements.
Parking: Limited dine-in area but good concept

I want to review the food from an uber order. The uni was great - but the ratio to rice was not appropriate. There was way too much rice and you could barely taste the uni in the sushi.
They got the scallop torch sushi all wrong and sent a salmon one instead. That was disappointing.
Their spicy salmon roll was a joke and had no flavour. I had to make my own spicy mayo at home to try and enjoy it. It says crunch but was not crunchy at all. The bits just felt like a sad filler.
If it wasn’t for the uni, I would not really say it’s worth going back.

First time having sushi here and ordered Party Tray B (12 sashimi, 8 torched sushi, and 2 rolls) for pick up as it seemed like a good price with a good selection. The sashimi seemed like it was good quality but we only got 11 pieces instead of 12 (only 2 scallops whereas all the other types had 3 pieces). I believe it is because there was an extra thick cut of one of the sashimi (as seen in the pic) and maybe they counted that as 2? Not sure, but in any case, that is misleading. The variation in the cut thickness is also not great. The torched sushi could have been done better as the texture was not as soft or creamy as I have had at other places. The rolls tasted good and we liked the combination in the Market roll. As for variety, we received scallop sashimi, also torched scallop sushi and scallop on the rolls so it would be nice if there was more variety as we got kind of tired of the scallop.

Very busy place with diners scrambling for seats. Sushi and sashimi are fresh, and not too expensive. Staff and service were not very professional. My order was given to me without any of the condiments like soy sauce, ginger and wasabi and I have go back to the counter to ask for it.
Again, today, I ordered sashimi combo from them with Uber eat, and again, the order arrived without wasabi.

The sushi was loaded with too much mayonnaise, making it overly greasy and masking the fresh taste of the sushi. The cashier’s rude attitude made me reflect multiple times—why didn’t I trust the Google reviews? Folks, trust Google reviews! You won’t feel like you’re getting your money’s worth, not even close. The cashier’s attitude single-handedly brought down the rating of the otherwise okay sushi by half.

Was expecting to be a good dinner, whereas after consuming the (60+cad) box of sushi and sashimi, both me and my friend are having severe stomachache. To be honest, the box we got was not even the same as what they showed in the image while ordering ( it was so different). And the food turned out to be quite bad, we do suspect the quality and hygienic condition of the food and restaurant. They have done a great job advertising on different platforms. Will not come back again.

No point in ordering here if they cancel on you with 30 minutes notice even though you put in the order well in advance
