Under new management earlier this year (2020), their selection was much more limited, the quality was mediocre, and the prices were much higher. It has since closed. I don't know whether that is due to their diminished appeal or to covid-19 or a bit of both.

The menu and service were beyond our expectations. I really loved the vibes of this spot. Awesome place to take my family out for dinner.

Delicious baked goods all made by the owners.

We ordered a beautiful and absolutely delicious strawberry shortcake for a special birthday celebration. It was delivered to our porch. I can’t wait to try the other pastries being offered during this time!

The menu isn't a journal. Great double sided menu so you know the food is not only gonna be great. But fresh as well! The PEAMEAL bacon sandwich and the breakfast poutine are amazing! Great atmosphere!

Decor is a little bland. Coffee is really good. They dont screw up the breakfast, although the menu is limited. The place us kid friendly but the service doesn't keep up for the hungry. Service is catered more to adults that doesn't mind waiting a little. Recommended for the latter but not the former.

The new owners are really nice and welcoming. Sadly, if you used to be a regular customer at this long-standing restaurant, the new management may not be a welcomed change for you. Although the food is great, I long for the days when my SO and I groggily made our way to have a late weekly Sunday brunch. She would get the classic breakfast, I would order the best Eggs Benedict I’d ever had in my life. And I’ve had my fair share in the city, from Lady Marmalade to Gingermans. Ive even contemplated tracking down the old owners just to get the recipe of their Hollandaise sauce. You could always count on good food, and you could definitely count on not being gouged at the end when you get your bill. I remember a couple of years ago paying 28$ for a breakfast for 4 people. For old regulars, I have found The Ellery; the quality is the same if not better as the old King’s, and I’ve resigned to the fact that we’ll never see those prices ever again. But, if you’re an Eggs Benedict fan, I’d at least give Ellery a chance.

I think this has changed owners. Used to be a little greasy spoon with a varied menu. It was cheap and cheerful. Looks like a young family owns it now....nice people but menu wasn’t exciting....food was okay. It has a small area for kids and the restaurant was full of them. Old Kings Diner’s pricing was amazing...couldn’t figure out how they did it.....this one has much higher pricing ....not terribly expensive.....within local standards. Just disappointed that it wasn’t the “old” Kings Diner

After hearing the King's Diner was under new management, we had to give it a shot. We were so pleasantly surprised by the great service, kid friendly environment and the food was absolutely delicious. This place has potential to be a Kingston Road staple for years! Will definitely go back with more people, and bring the kids too!

This is a nice little diner. Food is good, and prices are great. Service is very good too. We enjoy visiting every few weekends.

Came here with 2 adults and 1 baby for brunch and it was such a great time! The prices are great, the food is tasty and the new owners are super friendly! They have a simple and easy to understand menu and lots of options for kids as well. Its also the baby /toddler /family hangout spot of the neighbourhood as everyone brings their kids here it seems ! Super family friendly ! In the middle of the restaurant they have a colouring table and a wooden train set and a bunch of books for kids which was obviously popular with the kids. 10/10 would recommend the King's diner to anyone that is looking for great food for even better prices.

My husband and I are loyal customers of King's Diner. Usually we going there at least once a weekend of not twice for an amazing, well priced breakfast. And the service was always incredible. When it closed for renovations a while ago, we were excited to see what in store for our favorite neighborhood diner. The day came when they finally reopened and we made our way there. We were soon very disappointed. This was not the same place as before. It was quite evident as we walked in that it was not closed for simple renovations but under new management and now called "The New King's Diner". There was no indication on the signage out front or on their phone message. The place is totally different with a very limited, expensive menu and a pretentious feel. What bothers me us when you search this new place, the reviews coming up are based on the wonderful, family owned place with great food and prices. This is NOT that place.
