I have been following this bakery and knew I wanted them to make my wedding cake when the time came. However, it has been a huge disappointment as we have been reaching out to them for the past few weeks with zero response. I'm sorry, but that is just not an acceptable business model.
Purchased cupcakes twice from this bakery and while the flavours are good the texture is very dry. I thought the first time was a fluke but even a second time it was the same. My sister did a cake tasting and she had the same issue with dryness. It doesn’t seem to be a quality issue maybe it’s just a different kind of recipe
As per a recommendation by a friend, I opted to try them out for my daughter’s 1st birthday. We got an ube fringe cake which was so beautifully decorated but also absolutely delicious. Delivery was very smooth and on time. I definitely hope to visit their actual store one day and to try some of their other cakes in the future. Maraming salamat, Kwento! 🙏🏽
Delicious cake, and beautifully decorated for my wedding. The team were also a delight to communicate with. Thank you so much for your wonderful work, we will be back for cakes and more!
We worked with Kwento for our wedding cake, and it was truly the best wedding cake we’ve ever had (and tasted)! We gave the team our wedding colours and a few ideas, and trusted them to bring their creative vision to life. Highly recommend, 10/10, no notes.
My husband and I got married this past August and chose Kwento to make our wedding cake. We chose the white chocolate strawberry flavour. It was absolutely delicious—moist, flavourful, and everything I had hoped for. The presentation was perfect, from the beautifully designed box to the timely delivery and easy communication. I also appreciated the heads up they gave us on ordering a tasting box, which made our final decision so easy. Thank you, Kwento, for creating my dream wedding cake! I would 100% order again!
Beautiful cake. I’d asked to pick up a bit earlier due to a lunchtime birthday and they accommodated
The chocolate Guinness is to die for.

A cute coffee shop that is conveniently located a few steps from McCormick rink! Went today for an Americano and the service was amazing. I had the embarrassing experience of Apple Pay not working and they offered me a complimentary coffee - so kind! And the coffee was perfection

Maria helped us with our wedding cake and everything from the service to the cake itself was amazing. Everyone commented that it was the most beautiful cake they had ever seen and it tasted delicious as well. Wish I had a picture to share but we devoured that cake.
Will be getting cakes from here again for sure!

A nice little coffee and cake shop with a very unique style. The cakes almost look cartoon-ish, and are very intriguing. I will definitely be back to try another time. Today I gave the filtered coffee a shot. The beans were from Brazil and was described to have notes of blueberries and chocolate. Unfortunately it was too acidic (sour) for me in the end, but that’s just my personal preference. My friend ordered a matcha latte and loved it. Next time, I’ll have to give that a try as well.

TL;DR - They know how to make a delicious, decadent, and well balanced cake. Whether or not you agree with the aesthetic, you'll absolutely go back for seconds.
I recently had the pleasure of trying one of Kwento's cakes and I was skeptical. I have been burned hard on cakes that flaunt pretty visuals, but utterly disappoint on the taste, but I am absolutely overjoyed to say that Kwento knows how to make an absolute banger of a cake.
I have a lot of opinions on chocolate cake, so buckle up.
A chocolate cake must place chocolate upfront. Everything else must support the flavour of chocolate. If your icing or filling distracts or overpowers the chocolate base it's no bueno in my books.
In terms of texture, you gotta have a bit of chew. If it's too airy, dry, crumbly, it's not for me. Go eat a sponge cake. Chocolate cake has to be moist; it must envelop the totality of your mouth in a velvety, smooth texture. It must be moist, but not soggy. Mouth feel matters, and if it feels gritty or grainy, or triggers a strong thirst reaction, sorry but no.
Sweetness, needs to be controlled. The flavour is chocolate, not just sweet. A darker chocolate with a hint of bitterness to control sweetness is a must particularly in a cake with a significant amount of icing/buttercream/etc.
The ratio of icing/fondant/buttercream, is a bit subjective. I typically prefer less, but there are always exceptions to the rule especially when the icing sweetness is well controlled. I absolutely must hand it to Kwento, their mastery over the sweetness, flavour and texture in the buttercream is astounding. You would think with a cake with so much icing that it would be overwhelmingly sweet, but shockingly no. All the elements are in perfect harmony.
Finally, the perfect cake is the one where you can have 2 slices. Everyone knows what it's like eating too much of something that's either too sickly sweet, or too heavy, or just too pushy on the flavour (I'm looking at you salted caramel, you're not a goddamn savoury). But when you have an exceptional cake, you're left wanting more after the first slice.
All my guests who ate Kwento's cake went back for seconds.
Bravo. What a wonderful experience.

We worked with KWENTO for our simple, classic wedding cake for our September wedding. The experience was great. We did the tasting earlier in the year which was so fun and they were able to make my vision come to life.

We recently worked with Maria and Shannon for our wedding cake this summer. We were absolutely blown away by the cake and it was devoured by the guests within a couple of minutes. I would highly recommend Kwento to anyone looking for a showstopper cake.
