The cookie and pastries were amazing but the pre-made prosciutto and pesto sandwich was stale and some of the prosciutto pieces were rock hard and inedible.

WORST COFFEE ever - I returned the drip coffee (it tastes recycled and bitter) - they exchanged it for Americano which also tastes low quality or was stale. My friend at the Chai Tea and left it it was so bad ($7) she now feels sick even though it was with Almond milk!

Baked goods are 10/10- absolutely try the basque cheesecake. Very Parisian feeling to the space and quite cosy upon entering. Only detractor is that unlike most French and Western-European spots like this, there is full or partial wait service. It feels rather clumsy to grab a table across the room from the counter, wait for your number to be called, then balance your dish against other customers bobbing and weaving through the restaurant before arriving at your table with your food. It made me wish I had a professional who could navigate other customers’ sudden movements, coughs, hair etc. It’s also confusing that a tip is asked for when there is no wait service. Don’t get me wrong, someone can provide exceptional service worthy of a tip from behind the counter - it was just not something I witnessed. As mentioned, food is delicious however just be aware that cutlery is stored rather unhygienically in a jar where forks are upright and very close to each other…just know that if you use one of these forks that every customer in the restaurant has already touched it while grabbing their own. You will also be expected to deposit your finished plates cups and cutlery after your meal (which is absolutely fine), but just something else you should consider before the tip is asked for upfront.
Verdict: it’s a tasty spot with a few exceptional dishes that can justify their prices, however the dine-in option does little to provide real value to the experience, and I would rather use my own clean utensils than the communal setup that’s going on. If you are grabbing this for takeout or for breakfast on the way to work it’s a great option and reasonable value. There’s definitely French DNA in Le Gourmand, but you can tell there’s something else there cutting corners and cheapening the customer experience ever so slightly. A delectable spot!

Had to come here for their famous chocolate chip cookies. When I travel I like to try the areas best chocolate cookies. This place did not disappoint.
Chocolate chip cookie was crispy and the outside and soft and chewy in the middle. Perfect thickness and not too sweet. Of course had to enjoy it with a glass of milk. Lots of seating in the cafe. Tables were kind of close together and was hard to navigate. Will come back to try the other goodies they have.

I stopped by Le Gourmand Café on a whim and it quickly became a favorite. The pastries were fresh and delicious, and the hot chocolate was rich without being too sweet. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. Definitely a place I’d come back to and recommend.

In my opinion, the best cafe in Toronto. Both the drinks and food stand out, and the space itself is beautiful and cozy.

The cookies here are massive. Verry tasty, thick and large. Had brunch here recently as well which was decent but the cookies are the star of the show for us.

Cute and cozy little coffee shop with amazing hot chocolate.
I used to come to this place for the amazing coffee and the incredible egg croissant sandwiches years ago when I worked at a start up around the corner.
I try to stop in whenever I return to the area for that nostalgic smell and taste. Love that it hasn’t changed. Highly recommend this coffee shop.

i can definitely see the appeal behind le gourmand’s chocolate chip cookie — it’s simple but it’s done sO well, and it pairs really nicely with a warm, steamed cup of milk. the outside is baked nice and crisp but the cookie itself was SOOO soft and chewy, and the inside was gooey with rich, sweet, melted chocolate that made it taste super decadent and indulgent. i warmed it up a bit and it felt like it was fresh out of the oven!
the bread pudding was a little bit too mushy for me honestly, i would’ve liked it to have a firmer, denser feeling and maybe a bit of a baked crisp on top. it tasted super tart-tasting and fruity from the banana and raisins(?), and i also liked how there was a bit of melted chocolate in it too.

The cookie had good flavour but the edges were burnt. For this price the cookie should tuck me in at night.
