This used to be an affordable place to have an authentic French bistro experience. But today it’s a shadow of its former self. Feels very tired with the meals mailed in. Gloopy bean soup, followed by a tough steak frittes where the fries tasted like McCain’s. My wife had a lamb shank whose meat needed to be removed aggressively with a knife rather than falling off the bone. I suspect the restaurant was taken over from the original owners as I can’t imagine they’d settle for such mediocrity. We won’t be back.

Definitely felt like I was in Paris again. The steak frites were perfect, duck confit juicy and full of flavour. Excellent service. The only thing was, I was very disappointed in the French onion soup. It was bland and flavourless, for the price I expected it to at least be good. The pear tart was also a very strange combination of flavours, maybe too sweet for me? Looking past the 2 appetizers, I had a great meal.

My wife and I had our anniversary dinner here this year. It had been almost 20 years since I was last here. And my wife remembers the old location on Queen Street. We had a great time. Food was great. I was a bit disappointed when they said they couldn't do the daily special (Lobster Thermidor) but I survived.
Great food and a tasty bottle of bubbly.
And of course it wouldn't have been as good without the excellent service from our waiter.

Very nice staff and ambiance. We had the lunch menu and while it was good, I didn't fully live up to our expectations.

Had brunch here today. I ordered the omelet. I wouldn’t recommend. It came with potatoes. They were cold. Our server spilled my mimosa all over my friend. Two of my other friends ordered the burger. Although the burger tasted good the chef didn’t follow instructions to hold the onions and horse radish.

Now for the positive - I gave the feedback to our server and the manager came over and apologized profusely and comped all the meals that were not served to our satisfaction which was very much appreciated.

Thank you for taking our feedback and making it right!

The $59 prix fixe was not worth it. The steak was very chewy and almost inedible. The mousse was also underwhelming. The pappilon drink tasted like a regular gin and tonic but cost far more than that. Seems overrated

Wonderful French restaurant! I went there with my office colleagues for a team lunch and we had a great experience tasting a variety of French dishes. The food was delicious and nicely presented.

The atmosphere inside is superb. Because of the winter weather we stayed indoors, but the outdoor dining area looked lovely and I’m sure it would be an amazing experience in summer.

Overall, a perfect place for team outings.

Le Select Bistro is an absolute gem in Toronto! From the moment you walk in, you’re transported to a classic Parisian bistro with its warm ambiance, elegant decor, and welcoming atmosphere.

One of the highlights is their incredible $36 three-course prix fixe menu (available from 12–3 PM) — such amazing value for the quality and portion sizes. Every course felt thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented.

And the French onion soup? Simply outstanding. Rich, deeply flavorful broth, perfectly caramelized onions, and that golden, bubbly layer of cheese on top — it’s easily one of the best I’ve had. Comforting, authentic, and absolutely delicious.

The service was attentive and professional without being intrusive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Whether you're going for a relaxed lunch or a special occasion, Le Select Bistro truly delivers. Highly recommend — I’ll definitely be back!

My girlfriend surprised me on my birthday. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Our Waiter S. was amazing, friendly, knowledgeable, and he did everything he could to make the occasion great. Food was great and we loved every moment and enjoy the experience tremendously.

This place was a good old faithful for my Brother and I, had brunch few weeks ago and came back today for lunch. Brunch and lunch were both underwhelming. Everything was super understated and just not the same as before. I ordered the trout off of the prix fixe menu and it was filled with bones and way too much oil on the plate under it, it was actually swimming in oil. I don’t know if they changed chef or what happened, even our waiter was super non engaging and it was really awkward. I don’t think I will return.
