Food was great, try to get a booth in the back if you can.
I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for awhile now. Finally got the chance for my birthday. I ordered the steak frites, the wanted my steak to be cooked medium rare but it was medium. Also the frites taste like McDonald’s fries. It was so disappointed! I never will go back, please don’t waste your money.
I’ve frequented Le Select several times but most recently this past weekend. The atmosphere is amazing. Vintage feel to the decor and French music set the tone. It was very busy but we always felt taken care of by the waiter. I indicated it was our anniversary but it was never acknowledged. Strange.
Had the shrimp cocktail, steak and frites, and my wife had the French onion soup and mussels. Everything was fairly tasty. Steak was quite fatty though. Drinks were great but steel ($24 for an old fashion seems a bit much).
Had a wonderful time and plan to return.
Had an amazing meal at Select Bistro! Started with pain au lait — which is a fancy way of saying bread and butter — soft milk bread with whipped butter, shallots, garlic, and espelette. The scallops, daurade, and roast chicken with truffle honey? All unreal. French comfort food at its finest.
Went here for brunch which you can make a reservation which is nice. The brunch items were nice. My favorite was the waffles. Followed by the croque madame. The main complain was the coffee. It was way too frothy for a latte/cappuccino. More like bubble bath foam and it was served room temp cold and we had to ask for it to be replaced. Service and location are pretty nice and cozy
Been wanting to try this place close to The Well.
Service was good.
The appetizers beef tartar and French Onion Soup was good.
My partner got the trout, it was ok a bit too much capers.
I got the duck, it was ok, the meat was a bit on the drier side.
Overall I would say it was ok? Maybe a 1 off?
Prices were around what's expected in DT.
Total was about $164
Reservations recommended.
Don't expect real French food. The steak tartare and French onion soup are standard. The duck was tasteless and sat on a big mush of beans...Gross. The trout was drowning in oil and capers and overcooked. Both of us had gut issues later that night.
Our servers were very kind.
This is my go-to for a downtown French Bistro. The patio is open and the food and service are delightful!
The service here is exceptional and the food was better than I expected. I was in the mood for a burger and they thoroughly delivered and elevated the experience.
In love with this place, the food was amazing, but makes this place so special definitely is the staff, Amus at the bar was beyond expectations, great conversation and service, we’ll come back very soon! Thanks!!!

Went for Brunch. First time in ages. Le Select is a classic Toronto staple. The space is beautiful and I love that stretch of Wellington.
I ordered the petit breakfast. It was meh. I didn’t like the breakfast sausage at all. I wish I got the waffles instead. I would go again to try them.
It was a real pleasure to dine here. I enjoyed the Croque Madame and he enjoyed the risotto. We chased dinner down with a shared crème brute and cappuccinos.
They were able to make gluten-free modifications to everything I ordered which was much appreciated.
When u go in it’s a very quiet, French style ambience where tables and banquets are placed like French restaurants in Paris. The food was ok! There was no bread served at the table. Lacks quality control. Ordered an onion soup it was full of bread and super salty. I ate only a little bit the waiter never asked why! Then took a steak frite. Steak was cooked to perfection but chewy. The fries were extra salty was not able to eat those. Again the waiter never asked why more than half of the plate was still untouched. Ordered a soufflé for dessert, it’s made from scratch. The souffle tasted eggy, it was good chocolaty but very eggy smell to it. The service was very slow. I mean it took 3 good hours for our meal so it u want a romantic, long discussion place , it’s for u, we were there on a quick meal which took forever!
The food was okay, and I would say most food were good. The scallops were not tender and juicy enough, and the duchess potato is not that crispy.
