This place was so quaint yet magnificent. food was delicious and fresh. Flavors, vibrant, and unique. Would recommend.
Exceptional service and food. Before the dinner they answered all my questions through this app and were sooo helpful. The food is to die for and the service at dinner was exceptional as well. Thank you for a very memorable meal.
Exceptional dining experience! Quite possibly the best pita and tzatziki I've ever had. The wait staff was super knowledgable to help pick wine to go with our meal, and the vibe was stellar. Highly recommend!
Everything was great! I can not eat gluten so if you could have a few more options that would be even better.
Cocktails were lackluster, the pita bread is soft and sweet, but is not wholesome enough for mature palates, the wine list is good but crazily marked up, the mains were average for a Greek-Cypriot restaurant. (We had expected above average). Overall, this restaurant, which has a lot of positive media coverage, seems overhyped, and perhaps better suited to younger palates and birthday parties.
When I compare with other Greek restaurants, food taste is medium level. Not bad but not wow . Lokmades was not as expected.
The food was quite good but the service was very poor. When we arrived for our reservation, I said hi to the host and she didn't even look up or acknowledge us for a couple minutes until she was done reading something. Next, the second host who sat us was also not inviting and didn't say hi or ask how we were doing. We ordered lots of food that came out too quickly. The table of 6 of us was served and concluded in under an hour. Not a great experience overall, which is disappointing as we previously really enjoyed the restaurant.
Amazing experience for my birthday dinner. Unfortunately I didn't catch our servers name but he was wonderful - he suggested we do the tasting menu and it was perfect for our party of 7. The flow of the meal was perfect, giving everyone time to eat their fill of everything and we were never rushed. Overall a fantastic time at Mamakas :)
Mamakas Taverna is the ideal spot for celebrating a birthday or any special occasion. We were there for a birthday celebration and the ambiance hit all the right notes—buzzy, warm, and just festive enough.
The food is not only visually stunning but also a true celebration of Greek cuisine. Two standout dishes on their menu are the Keftedes (beef meatballs with zucchini, tahini yogurt, and pine nuts) and the Melizanosalata (smoked eggplant dip with walnuts and honey). Both are perfect shareables that elevate the dining experience.
The drinks were decent—not the highlight, but solid. What really shone was the service: the staff were genuinely hospitable, attentive, and friendly—exactly what makes a celebration feel special.
And don’t miss dessert—the Baklava Cheesecake is mind-blowing: a rich assembly of hazelnuts, pistachios, honey, and phyllo layers that will mess with your head in the best way possible.
We had high hopes for this based on reviews and the appearance of the restaurant but we were completely underwhelmed by every single thing we ordered. We had the spanakopita, octopus, eggplant, all were really lacking flavor. Side orders of pita, just meh, and potatoes totally undercooked inedible.

The spanakopita is life changing.
My faves were the pepper dip appetizer and asparagus pesto! We made a reservation for the patio but it was raining and the manager made sure to call ahead to ask if they could accommodate us indoors.
Another incredible night at Mamakas! I’m always so impressed by the attention to detail—from the beautifully curated menu to the warm, thoughtful service. Despite the restaurant being packed, our server Casey was absolutely amazing. She never missed a beat, replenishing our utensils between every course, checking in at just the right moments, and making us feel so taken care of. Her recommendations were spot on—the Aphrodite cocktail was perfectly balanced and refreshing, the imam bayildi was rich and flavorful, and the keftedes (a forever favorite) did not disappoint.
We ended the night with the famous baklava cheesecake and ice cream—pure heaven.😩
Thank you to the chef, kitchen staff, and service crew for consistently going above and beyond. The atmosphere was electric, the food exceptional, and the entire evening felt truly special. Can’t wait to return!🥰
Tried the $75 tasting menu here with a group of 5. Overall this was a really delicious meal and all of us left very full.
Was a big fan of the Spanakopita, the lamb chops, the potatoes (very crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, well seasoned), the meatballs, the Greek salad, the spinach, and the chicken and mushroom dish. I love mushrooms, and the assortment with the sauce was delicious.
Wasn't as big a fan of the octopus. I think it might have been overcooked as the texture turned quite grainy. Eating it with the fava spread kind of gave it this starch on starch texture that wasn't that great. The bass was okay as well.
Service here was very good, our server came by frequently to help clear plates and to pour water for us which was very nice. We were never pressured to leave either, even though we were there for over 2 hours. It was appreciated as we were celebrating a friend's birthday.
Would definitely recommend trying the tasting menu, as it was great variety with good portions sizes. They also offer an add-on fee with wine pairings if you're into that sort of thing.
We loved this restaurant. There was great energy in the room, the food was delicious and our waitress was exceptional. The pita with Taramoslata was exquisite; the sable fish was superb, grilled perfectly; and the triple cooked potatoes were yummy! We were visiting from Vancouver, and we will definitely return when we come back to Toronto.
