Excellent and unique Japanese food. Pleasant staff, especially the owner. Service is sometimes a bit off. With patience it is always an enjoyable experience. Set menu for two (on weekends?) is always excellent and great value.

I recently dined at a sushi restaurant that left me truly impressed. The freshness of the food was unparalleled; each piece of fish tasted like it was just caught moments before being served. The precision in which the rice was cooked was remarkable, achieving the perfect texture and flavor to complement the fish. However, what truly set this restaurant apart was the service. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure a delightful dining experience. From recommending dishes to promptly refilling drinks, their professionalism and friendliness were exceptional.Overall, I highly recommend this sushi restaurant for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. The combination of fresh, delicious food and outstanding service makes it a standout choice.

Our first time here and it was an amazing food - delicious food, good service, and the atmosphere was so welcoming. We were a group of 6 and ordered a lot of different items from the menu. Everything was delicious! My favorites were the bluefin tuna roll, miso cauliflower and canapes!

Maru is a small, quiet little restaurant with one-of-a-kind food! The staff are able to tell you all you need to know about their menu and every single bite I took was delicious! I love the variety of small, shareable dishes (like the Ebi sliders) or larger, more filling ones like the Don bowls. You can tell they use quality ingredients and pay attention to not only making sure you like the taste but enjoy the experience of eating here!

All the sushi and sashimi are so fresh. Personally I don’t like the strong sesame oil aroma in the rice, but that may not matter too much to the whole dish.

I appreciate the more elevated feel of this casual neighborhood spot. Nice attention to details of how their food is presented and even the decor of the restaurant. Lunch was good value for the quality of the food you get. The crispy rice was so simple, but so good. The canapés were also great.

I just made my fourth visit to Maru today. Honestly, the quality of the food here doesn't match the prices - they're incredibly reasonable. I never imagined getting this level of quality at these prices.Located near the stunning beaches of Toronto, this restaurant has become a favorite spot of mine for unforgettable dining experiences. The chef at Maru is truly talented, crafting dishes that are both delicious and visually stunning. From the moment you step inside, the welcoming staff makes you feel right at home.Every dish is bursting with flavor, showcasing the chef's passion for creating memorable experiences. Whether it's their signature dishes or the chef's daily specials, each bite is a delight.I LOVE MARU and highly recommend it to anyone reading my review. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! Make sure to give this restaurant a try!

Can’t say enough good things about Maru. We went for my partner’s birthday and they went above and beyond with a yuzu tart dessert on the house. We ordered the Sunomono salad, crispy octopus, spot prawn nori canapé, and various nigiri and all were delicious, unique takes and made with high quality ingredients (fish). Service and ambiance of restaurant were both great! Nice local hidden gem

Maru is one of those hidden gem restaurants that I wish I had known about earlier. The staff is superb, and the food itself is absolutely incredible. Not only are the ingredients fresh and of high quality, but the dishes that they offer are varied, creative, and consistently delicious. They hosted a relatively small reception lunch after my wife and I got married, and it was the single best decision about the whole day that we made (aside from having the marriage itself). I can't speak highly enough about this place.

Very decent Japanese cuisine that has a quiet and private atmosphere.Miso cauliflower was massive and uniquely tasty. We didn't order any alcohol so the bill was much cheaper than expected.

For food so good and expertly made, it’s shocking how unpretentious this place is. The canapés are incredible. The nigiri, impeccably made, no oversized dollops of rice here. The seafood shines!!! The crispy rice is absolutely insane. I’d like to go through the entire menu one day. We got so much food and left very happy!!!! Prices are shockingly reasonable!!!!
