WARNING - TAKES NEARLY AN HOUR FOR THE FOOD TO COME OUT but the food is nice. The restaurant feels like it is owned by an immigrant family who do what they do to survive.Portion size is the average relative to other restaurants, and seems fresh.

The guy was so rude over there, he was swearing at us because we asked to look at the menu and didn’t find what we wanted to eat so we asked to leave, he started screaming at us saying don’t waste our time over and over again, calling us names. Mind you there was no customer in the restaurant and it smelt of old meat.

"I want to give a special shoutout to the server who was a old lady there for making our dining experience truly memorable. Their attentiveness and friendly behavior enhanced our meal and made us feel valued guests. We really loved dining at matagali restaurant from the moment we arrived until we left , everything was very well handled. I'm already planning forward to my next visit.

We ordered takeout using their website and were pleased with the quality of the food—pad Thai with prawns, butter chicken, samosas, and a Thai salad. A bit of the lettuce mix in the salad was subpar and the samosas were very average, but the pad Thai and butter chicken were excellent.Their online ordering system is quirky—adding rice or naan to the butter chicken cost $7/item, but side orders of both were available for $3-4. I also checked the box requesting cutlery (we were staying in a hotel) but none was in the bag. Fortunately we had some leftover to use.The order was ready at the time indicated. The restaurant itself is small, and the basement location would make accessibility a challenge. When I entered no staff were around, but someone emerged from the kitchen within a few minutes bearing my bag of food. We would order takeout again if in the area and make sure to double check for cutlery when picking up next time!Wheelchair accessibility: Restaurant is in an old building—down a small, turning flight of steps, with no visible elevator access.

I really wanted to like this place but the food was horrible. There was obviously no salt in the dish. And, for pad Thai, it was way stickier than it normally is.

We stumbled upon this cozy Indian and Thai restaurant. We were greeted by a friendly couple and offered papadum while we waited for our food. The lamb rogan josh, butter chicken, and chicken korma were all delicious. The garlic naan hit the spot but maybe could have been lighter. Will be coming back when we’re craving Indian food! Feels great to support a local business :)
The food here was superb and the service was excellent. The owner and staff were so welcoming. I love how they had gluten free options as well coming from someone who is gluten free. You just need to make sure to mention that you would like to have your dish to be gluten free so they know. Definitely one of Toronto's best kept secrets. I am for sure coming back!!!!!
Absolutely my favorite Indian restaurant, their lamb masala tastes wonderful.

Humble, no nonsense Indian/Thai cuisine. Chicken biriyani was on par with the biriyani served at The Host Indian restaurant. Nicely presented too. They took the time to prepare it to a good standard and it showed in taste and presentation.Interior is cozy and tidy.Truly an underrated gem in the downtown areaVegetarian options: Lots of vegetatian options

We ordered samosas, rice, butter chicken, aloo gobi and prawn masala. Free papadum appetizers were very tasty. Flavors of everything, service and overall experience was fantastic. Prices were very competitive especially considering location. I was told cooking was based on south Indian family recipes. Restaurant decor was tasteful, and the washroom was clean. We all really enjoyed dinner and would definitely recommend.Vegetarian options: Several lentil and vegetable dishes available as well as prawn and fish (tilapia) if pescatarian.

I went there with a group. The service was reasonably quick, and the food was really good. Everyone's food looked really good. I had the cashew chicken, salad, rice and a mango lassi. No complaints.
