The food was phenomenal and the staff were very accomodating. Took my partner here for dinner, we shared the most delicious pork belly and equally delicious roasted brusselsprouts. The oysters were fresh and came with a great choice lf toppings. The trout was so good, the dill cream sauce paired very nicely with the fish. Will be coming back again and highly recommend!

La grande bouffe! This place really has the vibe of an "Old York Tavern" so it does live up to it's name. We've pretty much had everything on the menu; and everything was succulent. I'm full.

Fantastic food, service, and ambience. They gave us a free dessert for no reason. Everything was so good I felt like the bill should've been higher.

Would I say it's the best spot in Toronto? Yes.

The restaurant's writing made the pain perdu look like meatloaf, the chocolate syrup like gravy, and the ice cream like mashed potatoes. It was the best dessert we tried.

The Old York Tavern is a hidden gem in Toronto, offering a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot for a casual lunch or night out. Whether you’re stopping by for drinks or a hearty meal, this neighborhood favorite delivers on all fronts.

The menu features a mix of classic pub fare and elevated comfort food. I went straight for the main course and decided to try their signature burger, and it was one of the best I’ve had in the city—juicy, flavorful, and topped with fresh ingredients on a perfectly toasted bun. The side of fries was crispy and well-seasoned, completing the meal.

The service was warm and friendly, with staff who clearly take pride in making guests feel at home. Food service was quick and considering we had little time to chow down before heading to Scotiabank Arena for a Maple Leafs game. Despite being busy, our server was attentive and ensured everything was to our liking.

The Old York Tavern also has a charming patio that’s perfect for summer evenings, adding to its appeal as a go-to spot for any occasion.

With its delicious food, great drinks, and inviting vibe, The Old York Tavern is a must-visit for anyone looking for a laid-back yet high-quality dining experience in Toronto.

The food was incredible, especially the bone marrow and escargot dish. The restaurant itself is very cozy and the atmosphere is welcoming.

I was very disappointed with this tavern. We chose it for brunch because it was nearby, but the experience fell short. The brunch hours go until 3 PM, and the place was packed, making the small space feel even more cramped, especially in winter with everyone’s bulky coats.

We arrived at 2 PM and were seated quickly after being told brunch ended at 3 PM. The menu had limited food options but plenty of alcoholic beverages. I decided to try their Tavern Hash, thinking it would be a signature dish, but it was a letdown.

The presentation was unimpressive, and the portion was tiny for $29. The dish consisted of a soft hash brown base (about 10 cm in diameter), spinach, beef, and hollandaise sauce on top. It was soggy and lacked flavor. My partner and I ordered two portions along with soft drinks, and the total came to around $80—far too expensive for the quality and portion size.

While the servers were friendly, they seemed rushed, likely because they were nearing closing time. The tavern itself feels casual, not high-end, and the tightly packed seating made the experience uncomfortable. We were in and out in under 30 minutes, which speaks to how quickly the food arrived, but overall, it wasn’t worth the visit.

It is a very lovely, cozy neighborhood restaurant, especially in the evening, which gives you a warm, fuzzy feel. Small and intimate. Our server was a lovely lady, which added to a relaxing evening. Just had a couple of drinks, but I looked at the menu. It is limited but has some unique dishes. It's a bit pricey, though. Loved the alternative music, wanted to stay just to hear more. Great for any occasion. Definitely recommend it.

Great service, best in the city. Very attentive and friendly, our food was taking a while and they came over to apologise and offer us complimentary drinks without us even saying anything. We told them we would normally got for dessert but we were just too full, they gave us a complimentary dessert anyway. Needless to say I was extremely full leaving that place.
The food overall was tasty however the veggies that came with the halloumi were over seasoned and very oily. I’d definitely return to try different dishes though!

Burger was salty . They’re close to having one of the best burgers in the city if they tone down the salt . Everything else was delicious and the atmosphere is chill

Simply, this spot is a 10/10. My wife and I were out for dinner here last night and I felt compelled to leave a review for a number of reasons:
- They accommodated us, no fuss, despite the fact that I messed up the reservation
- food was all perfectly cooked, arrived quickly, and was all incredibly delicious
- service was attentive, warm, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu (drink and food) - great communicators in there!
- the ambiance was unpretentious but refined, inviting, and despite the place being full, we were able to still comfortably chat without straining to hear each other
- overall great value and experience

These folks are pros, and as someone who regularly dines out in Toronto, I highly recommend you give this spot a try. We will definitely be back!

Bacon strips are thick, long, and juicy! 🐷

Smoked Salmon Tartine was a great choice! 🐟

Lobster Benedict for $36+tax and tip is expensive IMO. Not enough lobster pieces to justify this insane price 👎🏽 🦞

French toast was perfect dessert closure!
