The food was very delicious and I would order takeout again. However, when it arrived it was only lukewarm. I would have loved the Pearl to be able to give us foil containers to keep the food warmer because we can't control when Uber eats delivers
the food is overpriced and feels like frozen dumplings, The peking duck dumplings is served with bao not thin wraps

$70 Peking Duck Combo in Downtown Toronto!?
I’m usually skeptical about Chinese restaurants in downtown, but @pearlyorkville is truly worth a visit. They offer a two-course $70 Peking Duck combo that is super crispy, scrumptious, and enough for 3-4 people!??↕️
What we tried
?Peking Duck: $70
?Pan-fried Hockey Pucks: $17
?Crabmeat Broccoli: $28
?Deep Fried Squid Tentacles: $17
?Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Mustard Greens: $36

We ordered deep fried egg plant, shrimp dumplings, and siu mai. Unfortunately we learned that we missed the dim sum time at 11:00am-3:45pm so there was only a limited selection. The deep fried egg plant is absolutely the one of the best we've ever had...crispy, plump and juicy...comes with a gravy sauce on the side. The shrimp dumplings and siu mai were also very good...fresh, plump. Everything was tasty and service was good. A bit pricey but we enjoyed the overall experience.

Hi Pearl Chinese Cuisine Manager,
I visited your Pearl Yorkville branch today (19th October 2024) at 11:50 AM to make a reservation for my wife’s birthday celebration on 20th October 2024. I was assisted by a man, approximately in his late 40s or early 50s, who took my reservation at the front desk.
Unfortunately, during the interaction, I found his tone of voice to be quite rude, with moments where he raised his voice when speaking to me. This created an uncomfortable experience, as it seemed to stem from his inability to communicate his words clearly. I am unsure if this was an isolated incident, but I left feeling disrespected. While I don't want to make assumptions, the treatment left me wondering if this could be related to my race or simply a personal attitude issue.
I would greatly appreciate it if this matter could be looked into, as I believe all customers deserve to feel respected. I am happy to provide further details or answer any questions.
Due to this experience, I decided to book my reservation at your Harbour-front branch, where I was greeted with friendliness and professionalism.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to your response.

Been wanting to try Pearl for a long time. Service was very attentive and ambiance was great but dim sum fell a bit short considering the price point ($70 for 4 smaller items) and the alternatives downtown.

Maybe it’s true that the litmus test for a good Chinese restaurant is that it has some negative reviews…
The Pearl Yorkville is exceptional. For downtown and uptown standards. They’re a good benchmark for Cantonese / Hong Kong style cuisine. You won’t find the banal pretensions of haute cuisine like Lai Wah Heen, you will just find good Chinese food, done correctly.
Really strong dim sum (get the char siu bao and the ginger tripe) and, much to my surprise, an even better dinner program (get the green beans and Peking duck).

The food was both delicious and plentiful, so I had part of it packed to go. Additionally, the staff were very polite.

Very nice dining atmosphere with nice, attentive servers, however I was disappointed by the food. The shrimp dumpling wrappers were a little off (too sticky and not chewy/elastic-y) and the sweet and sour pork was a little dry and hard. Rice and fried calamari were ok and the hockey pucks were the stand out of the meal. Paid around $55 after tip and tax for 5 dishes split between three people. The amount of food was good but I don’t think its worth it for the quality.

The decoration is beautiful and the service is very good. Recommend the five-flavor duck and Japanese-style beef tenderloin, delicious and nice

There were curly hairs growing out from under the chicken's feet, so the waiter was called. This person excused himself and asked me to pick it out and show it to him. But when I put it on his hand, his fingers suddenly opened and the hair fell to the ground and was no longer visible. Then he asked me, where is the hair? The attitude is extremely bad.

Decent food, but value it is not. A completely empty restaurant, but way too overpriced. Won't be going back.
