I absolutely love the coffee from Second Cup at Toronto Western Hospital! The staff and the owner always greet me with a warm smile and remember my name every time I visit. It’s such a welcoming place—it feels like a second home to me, just like the name suggests!

My wife explicitly ordered a white hot chocolate, and in order to differentiate it from the seasonal peppermint version, used the words “the classic one”. She reiterated twice that it was to be the white hot chocolate.
The drink was assembled and left with a fair amount of headroom, ostensibly for whipped cream. Due to the steamed milk, it was impossible to know this wasn’t a white hot chocolate. The thinnest layer of whipped cream was applied, the entire finished drink sat more than half an inch from the edge of the cup. It was noticeably unrepresentative of the images on the menu; so much so so that I commented on it to my wife as we were leaving.
We walked to a table, sat down and started to share it, only to find that it was a regular hot chocolate.
I returned to the store, only to be accused of “just wanting a free drink” (my wife purchased it with bonus points, so it was free already) and that “half of it was gone!”
I assure you, dear reader that the drink sat about an inch from the edge of the cup by the time I took it back. My wife and I had three total sips of it. The headroom had already been quite large.
I was told because she use the word classic, that was what they made. Despite saying “white hot chocolate” a total of three times, all they heard was “classic” and assumed she meant the regular hot chocolate.
How adamantly they acted like this was our problem and the under-filling of the drink makes me feel like this is an operation that regularly does shady practices.
Even worse is that this is in a hospital, likely taking advantage of people who may not be as easily able emotionally or physically to stand up for what they thought they were purchasing.

Horrible it’s like drinking dirty water.I gave it back and asked them to make a real espressoThe two girls just looked at each other as if I was asking for something foreign!
