Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating and professional. Food is consistently good, very healthy and flavorful without being too spicy. They serve the best coffee in the city (owner used to be a barista). Very good hours.
Parking: It’s fairly easy to find paid parking on the street in front of the restaurant. $4/hour. Must pay as it is constantly being checked even if you are dashing in to collect a pickup order.

The service was excellent—attentive and friendly. The food was good, though a bit spicy for our taste. But the coffee was definitely one of the best I’ve ever had!

Wonderful dinner. Proprietor was delightful, attentive, and committed to authentic healthy cuisine. The injera is made with 100% teff thus safe for celiacs! The food was nicely seasoned without being overly oily or salty. Chill atmosphere. Modestly priced. Highly recommend! We cleaned the plate and enjoyed our meal immensely.

Please do yourself a favour and never eat here. I wouldn’t feed it to my dog. The food isn’t fresh the injera is stale and is a horrible all around experience. If you want authentic food try rendezvous on danforth (foods MUCH better)

Food is tasty. However the take out portion for 1 person vege combo platter was very very small. The portion size was more of a kids meal. I love Ethiopian food and have eaten at many comparable restaurants in Toronto- this was the smallest portion size I’ve ever been served. It was not worth the price. I was still quite hungry after. I don’t mind paying a good price at all for good food but this was just disrespectful. Weird because it gets good reviews. I don’t know if they serve a different size for eat in but do not recommend the take out. I will head back to regular spots on the Danforth and won’t support this business again unfortunately.

Sooooo good. We drove from Hamilton to come here, and it did not disappoint. We are 3 people with healthy appetites... we got a vegetarian platter for 2 and a meat platter for 2, and we cleaned the platter. We forgot to do a before and after. I guess we will have to come back to take the before :)

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Shalom Ethiopian Restaurant and it was a fantastic experience. The food was exceptional – I ordered the meat combo with 100% teff gluten-free injera bread, and it tasted amazing! The flavors were rich and authentic.
The restaurant itself is clean and has a nice, welcoming environment. The service was outstanding – friendly and attentive staff who made the experience even better.
I highly recommend Shalom Ethiopian Restaurant to anyone looking to try Ethiopian food. You won’t be disappointed!

Despite being in Toronto for only two days, we are so glad that we decided to make our way to Shalom for lunch. The Shalom platter was beautifully prepared, packs a punch in flavor, and generous in portions. We also opted to try the traditional coffee ceremony. From roasting to brewing to sharing the cultural meaning behind the ceremony, our server went above and beyond in ensuring we had a unique and beautiful experience - Konjo Buna!

Wasn’t really feeling it. Not my favorite habesha restaurant in the area by any means.

We had dinner there last night with some relatives from outside of Canada. The owner was so nice and sat down with us as had coffee and we talked about culture and the food. It was an incredibly pleasant, thoroughly unique experience.
We'll definitely be going back again.

Really incredible Ethiopian food in a homey atmosphere with lovely service. My friend and I wanted authentic Ethiopian food in Toronto (as people who grew up in New York/Philly) and this place delivered! We got the Taste of Shalom to split so we could try a variety of vegetarian dishes, a meat (lamb), and plenty of injera, as well as a fresh coffee.
Service was super friendly, and they were able to adjust the heat on the meat portion to suit our preferences. Prices were also extremely reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food. Highly recommend!!
