I had reserved a table at least two weeks in advance, but I was given one of the worst possible tables outside the restaurant. I had booked the table for a birthday, yet there was no cake, no welcome drink, and no birthday option offered. They seated us in the worst area of the restaurant, and overall I was very disappointed.
Visited Sofia for my 30th birthday this past weekend and had a wonderful time! The food was amazing, the atmosphere was top tier and our server was by far the best I’ve ever encountered! Big shoutout to Kelly for really putting time and care into ensuring our night ran smoothly and making sure we had what we needed. I’d revisit simply because of how great she was!
I do want to note that the table beside us, who were also celebrating a birthday had a poor experience with their server. As another black woman with a group of other BIPOC folks, I was disheartened to hear of how poorly they were treated when we spoke after dinner. This would have been 5 stars but I do need to deduct one for that. Please teach your servers not to engage in micro aggressions and treat your BIPOC guests as less than. I hope to see your other servers perform at the caliber Kelly did to ensure EVERYONE had a good time.

service was wonderful, but an extra special shout out to the male host at the front. He was so kind and personable
I've eaten here a few times. I was there with one other person on a Thursday evening. We ordered Branzino and Penne a La Vodka as our main dishes plus a Caesar Romero Salad to start. I usually have a very good experience here but this most recent one fell short. The Branzino was over cooked almost burnt...(looked like it was cooked on an open fire.) The pasta was a meh. We also had one glass of wine each. 6/9 Bill was $225. Including the tip. The restaurant was very loud. Service was slow...maybe because of the private party...and a live band. Later a DJ came in and it got even louder. We chose to leave then. The noise level was too much. We will likely go back - probably just an off night.
Amazing food, great service and reasonable price.

I celebrated my birthday at Sofia Yorkville this past Saturday and left extremely disappointed. The food was the only good part of this experience. My family of nine was seated with just one table lamp. The first server promised to bring another and help with our coats, then never returned. A male server took over, yelling across the table to get our attention with no introduction, and continued doing this the entire night. When I asked about the extra lamp, he cut me off with “we don’t have anymore,” even though a nearby, empty and single table had two lamps. When I asked about using one, he aggressively said “no” and walked away. We had to use our phones to see the menu.
Later, when I asked about their cake-cutting policy, he asked if I wanted to cut it. I said no, and both my mom and friend watched him roll his eyes and shake his head as he walked off. His attitude was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional.
The table beside us even apologized on his behalf and wished me a happy birthday after noticing how poorly we were treated throughout the night.
We ended up leaving early, and on top of everything, I was charged 20% gratuity despite my confirmation email saying 18%. Tip wasn’t the issue, but overcharging after such disrespectful service was unacceptable. As a Black woman who has to think carefully about where I dine, this experience made it very clear where I won’t be returning. My birthday should’ve been enjoyable, but instead I was left apologizing to my own guests because of Sofia’s service.

I’ve dined in many restaurants, and I’ve never been treated as badly as I was here. The greeting staff was fine, but the server who handled our table made the entire experience tense. His face was unpleasant the entire time, as if he didn’t want to serve us. His attitude was rude and dismissive, and every time he came over, we felt anxious. He rushed us constantly, to the point where he spilled my drink onto the menu I was holding and walked away without saying a word.
He knew we were celebrating a birthday and still offered nothing, not even a simple “happy birthday.” For a place with their reputation, the service felt shockingly unprofessional. With our table being all Black, I honestly couldn’t tell if the treatment was racist or just plain disrespectful, but either way it was unacceptable.
I left feeling confused and disappointed. This was my first Italian dining experience in Toronto, and it has completely deterred me from coming back to this restaurant or trying Italian dining again.
My night would’ve been better spent at a chain restaurant.
From reading recent reviews, this is not a first time occurrence and the restaurant management seems to not care. If only I read the reviews before going here

I celebrated my birthday here with my partner and it was such a beautiful experience. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and cozy, and everything felt so special.
But the best part was our server, Ali. He was absolutely amazing! So kind, professional, and attentive. He made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and his service was truly perfect.
Highly recommend this restaurant, and a big thank you to Ali for making our night wonderful!

Adam and Etion are the besttt !! I love their service delivery and have been dining at Sofias since they opened. The alla vodka is under rated - better than Carbone imo !! And i order this pasta anytime I see it on a menu.
The decor, ambiance / live music / vibe is 10/10.

The food was great and the service was exceptional. One of the staff members overheard me say I was cold and 2 minutes later, he came and asked if we'd like to move. I declined, as we were just finishing dessert and were going to leave shortly after. A few minutes after that, the hostess brought us over blankets. I thought that was extremely thoughtful! This is one of my favourite restaurants!

A fantastic experience in every way! Always delicious food, especially the PROSCIUTTO, INSALATA DI BURRATA DI POMODORO and RIGATONI ALLA VODKA!! Amazing cocktails - love their Martinis!! Attentive, friendly and professional service -- it was perfect!! Highly recommended!
I hope red is your color and green is in your wallet ! Amazing food and service in this hip Yorkville Italian eatery.
Diverse menu with options for all, various forms of raw fish, shrimp amazing salads and all kinds of other appetizers. Fresh warm bread is delicious but don't fill up!
For mains there are no staples per se, fresh pastas galore, righitoni ala vodka is the house specialty and it didn't disappoint. Amazing fish, steak and beef short rib are all delectable. So to is the spaghetti with lobster.
Tons of options for dessert, we had none.
Service is superb and friendly. Portion size is above average and exceptional given the prices
