Excellent cafe. Friendly service, good coffee with a good (funky & fun) bean collection and aesthetically pleasing space. Even though it’s a lovely roastery they don’t price gouge. Free wifi but not many big tables to work from.
Ordered a Cortado and found it to be too milky. It wasn't steamed enough and the coffee flavours did not come through. The pourover was good, so perhaps that is the star of Subtext.
Subtext is one of those places that just feels good to be in. You can tell how much care goes into everything they do - from their ethical sourcing and roasting to the beautifully designed space. The team is always warm and welcoming, and Alex brings such intention to the whole experience. Subtext has completely elevated how I think about and taste coffee. It’s clear they care deeply about quality, sustainability, and creating something meaningful.
