I’ve been a loyal customer for the past three years, regularly ordering drinks from St Joseph St location. During the summer, I was coming in almost every day. Since I’m not a big fan of milk-based drinks, I always ordered from the fruit tea series, usually passion fruit green tea or strawberry green tea.
About six months ago, I started noticing inconsistencies in the flavor of the same drinks. My theory is that some employees may be eyeballing the ingredients, which could explain why the drinks taste different each time. I could overlook minor variations in sweetness, sometimes a bit more or less than usual, but lately, I’ve noticed the tea itself isn’t always fresh. On some days it tastes overly bitter, and occasionally the tapioca pearls don’t seem fresh either.
The biggest disappointment has been the strawberry green tea. I never know whether I’ll get a refreshing drink with real strawberry pieces and a balanced sweetness (sugar levels are always set for this drink), or a bitter tea with barely any sweetness and strawberries that look like they’ve been boiled. (Pictures attached. The one with bright colour tastes good and the pale red one isn’t sweet and bitter)
This location used to be incredibly busy, but it’s not anymore and it’s easy to see why. There are now plenty of other bubble tea spots nearby offering more consistent, higher-quality drinks. Unfortunately, today was my last visit to The Alley.

The Deerioca Fever with extra sugar is heaven. Not everyone actually puts extra sugar - but when they do, it’s awesome.
