THE BACKYARD smokehouse Reviews
I’ve been coming here (Edmonton) since day one and always loved the food. The taste is still very good. But prices keep going up and portions keep getting smaller. I get that costs are rising, but doing both at the same time doesn’t feel right. Hope they take customer feedback seriously.
The only thing I would EVER go back to this restaurant for is the their lemonade … everything else was par at best!
Pricing for sides is misleading & confusing!!!
Service sucked!!!!!
Hardly saw our server!! Even when our food arrived she NEVER came to check on us until we had almost completed our meals!
She was surprised we even had our meal ??? (Are you kidding me) … this place is NOT that big nor was it at all that busy that she didn’t have the time/opportunity...read full review
I ordered the brisket, beef short rib, and wings . The meat was nice. Not sure how describe the wings ! The menu says 1 lb $15.99 ! I only received 5 wings that is fried not smoked. It is expensive for the portion they serve.

The Backyard Smokehouse offers an enjoyable dining experience with friendly and attentive service in a cozy, welcoming setting. The menu features a variety of tasty options, including the popular brisket mac and cheese and the backyard burger, both praised for their rich flavors and creamy textures. Customers also enjoy dishes like smoked chicken, lamb shank, mushroom confit, and sweet potato fries. The pulled beef sandwich, sliders, garlic bread, toast, and especially the cornbread are well-loved and flavorful. The restaurant provides quick and efficient service whether guests dine inside or on the patio, which offers a relaxed spot to observe traffic at the intersection of Dupont and Spadina. The Three Yard group meal, featuring brisket and lamb shank, is considered fantastic, and the sauces receive praise for their great flavors. Sides like curly fries and coleslaw are also appreciated. The patio’s friendly atmosphere makes it a nice place to enjoy a meal, especially in the evening with nearby street parking available. Although prices may be slightly higher than expected, the high-quality food and overall experience make it a worthwhile visit for those seeking a halal-friendly restaurant. Customers recommend trying the blackberry-pineapple lemonade for a refreshing drink, and note that the staff, especially Maria and Jill, provide excellent service.
