This is a great local bar, you come in and the vibe is laid back and super friendly. In no time it seems, they have your name and remember your favorite orders. Fun oddball music videos playing on the screens make for a a bit of a throw-back vibe as well. The air-con could use an upgrade, but i am still happy to sweat it out there!

A really unique bar has a game station set up at almost every table, so you can play while you're waiting for your order. Some tables have Nintendo, others have PlayStation. They also have board games, just depends where you sit, and they also have old school arcade games in the back, But the best thing, in my opinion, is on Sundays, They have specials that swap up every weekend for $5bucks.. I love it. And always worth more than 5 bucks😋.. Overall, really cool place, good service, and good food. Making this my new spot👍😎🇨🇦💯

My all-time favorite bar in Toronto by a long shot and even though I've moved away, I will always make it a point to go to the John everytime I visit Toronto.
The food here has no right being this good, the guy in the kitchen is a one man army and the beef chili is my personal recommendation.
Staff is amazing and aren't afraid to put on a show for the customers, there's no dullness here. Always the best time.

This used to be a semi-regular haunt. Love the atmosphere and music, and the servers are friendly. Have always enjoyed the food but the several times the food has been declining in quality. The last two times it was just terrible. The taco salad was limp and uninspired with just a few greasy tortilla chip thrown in. Not as good as in previous visits. Ordered a fried chicken sammie and it was terrible. The piece of chicken was microscopic, over-salted, and worst of all, completely over-cooked and hard. I'll miss hanging out, here. :-(

HORRIBLE FOOD AND WE WERE SWARMED BY A MOTHER LOAD OF FLIES TNAT MAGICALLY APPEARED AND THEN THE FORK WE GOT WAS SMOTHERED IN SOME WEIRD BROWN FUNGUS AND THE TACO SALAD THEY SERVE COMES WITH NO BEEF IM SORRY WHO IS JUST EATING LETTUCE AND SALSA 😒😭💀 I ADDED A PIC CUZ DO U SEE THE FLIES

The John is amazing! This cozy Bloordale watering hole is non pretentious, welcoming, bright and such a good vibe and AMAZING food. And a good selection of drinks to boot.
I have a shop a few doors down, and the owner came in one day and brought me a lobster dinner with a bib. I'll never forget that, I almost burst out crying cause it was so nice and I was having such a rough day.
Their Taco & Trivia Tuesday night is so fun!!
The John has friendly staff, fun customers, great atmosphere- and the food and drinks were top notch & affordable.

My partner and I have been coming to the John frequently for a few years now, and it might just be our favorite place ever.
The owner is a very passionate and kind man, any time I bring a friend they are astounded by his jovial presence. The rest of the staff do a great job, and the John genuinely has a warm and fun environment.
The food is superb too, the dill fries are dangerously addictive, and their assortment of pub grub is always satisfying. A nice feature is their sauce list, which you are able to mix and match for fun combos.

If you love great beer and retro gaming, The John: On Bloor is a must-visit! This place nails the vibe—solid craft beer selection, awesome prices, and a setup that feels like a dream for any gamer. Some tables have old-school consoles built in, and there are a few classic arcade machines that take me right back.
The atmosphere is chill but lively, perfect for kicking back after a long gaming session or just ranting about that last match where RNG screwed you over. The beer? Top-notch. Good variety, fresh, and doesn’t break the bank. The staff know their stuff, too—friendly and quick, no nonsense.
The food is great too. We ordered the Kimchi fries, the loaded fries and few chicken snacks, and they were great!
If you’re into gaming, good drinks, and a bit of nostalgia, this is your spot. 100% coming back.
