Easily the friendliest restaurant I’ve been to and great food
The food is delicious and the service is great as well. I've been there twice and it was an amazing experience both times.
My partner brought me there for my birthday and the food was amazing! First restaurant we’ve been to in Toronto since moving from Alberta last week. When we each ordered a glass of wine we naturally got ID’d because we look young for our age. That was not the issue. It was what happened afterwards. We then got ID’d 2 more times and got quizzed on our addresses and personal info to see if they were fakes. The server then told us that WHEN SHE HAD A FAKE ID She made hers from Alberta (it’s where we are from). WHO says to their customers that they had a fake id!? We then had to tell them about why we were in Toronto, the line of work we are in and a bunch of other stuff just to “convince” them we were 23years old. Honestly if my partner didn’t go through so much effort to plan a special night for me, and we weren’t trying to ruin the mood. We would have taken our business elsewhere. There is a line between it being compliment for looking young and then it just being completely rude and going too far. Not only that but throughout our entire meal it was as if they were investigating if we were telling the truth as well. It’s not like their prices are extremely cheap either; My partner ordered the duck which was a $40 dish and I ordered the eggplant which was $30 aswell as the wine which was $15 each. This is completely no problem for us but What kind of 18yr olds would have that kind of money to spend on 1 meal let alone order this type of food? If an 18yr old wanted some alcohol that would be the last place they would go. The vibes were off the entire time and instead of the waiter apologizing for her staffs actions while we were paying, she was just defending their suspicions and justifying their actions. We thought this area of town was the nicest part due to the income level in our neighbourhood only 5-10minutes away. You’d think the customer service would be just as nice but I guess not.
small, cool place with great service and food.
I’ve been frequenting this most excellent establishment for a few years now. They are consistently able to make the delicious food every time. The atmosphere is inviting and cosy. The restaurant is run by a very friendly family who take great pride in their food and everything they do. They even had the courtesy to call up to let me know that an earlier reservation had opened up.The rack of lamb is to die for and the apple strudel is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend The Monkey Bar, you will not be disappointed!
An amazing experience every visit! Consistently excellent food and outstanding service.
Place was busy. On recommendation from the server I ordered the very expensive beef short rib which tasted like a hunk of tasteless boiled meat with oily sautéed onions on it. A different server saw that I left it and asked if I did not enjoy it to which I responded it was a bland piece of meat. She looked at me and said “well it is brisket”! So why are they charging a fortune for a cheap piece of flavourless meat. Someone else had the schnitzel which was very good. I took home the hunk of meat for a family member (four legged).
We had an amazing dining experience at “ The Monkey Bar” From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive.
The food was absolutely delicious—each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The ingredients were fresh, and you could tell a lot of care went into every plate.
The service was top-notch, with the staff ensuring we had everything we needed without being intrusive.
Overall, highly recommend to anyone looking for a fantastic meal with excellent service. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Amazing food. Amazing service. The place was packed but our server was attentive and apologetic. The duck, the shortrib, and lamb were delicious. The pear salad and penne pasta for apps were delicious. Cocktails and mocktails were yummie. Eton mess, sorbet and sticky toffee pudding were yummmmm. Shoe string fries were actually shoe string fries.
Lovely,. interesting dishes and fresh fresh food including home made bread and ice cream! Delighted. Thanks!

This little gem!
Whatever I write here will not be enough.
I am so glad I finally got to come here for dinner. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff friendly and the food delicious.
A small family owned restaurant that brings so much love into the food they serve and how they serve.
I don’t usually rate 5 stars for all but this place deserves it all!
One of our favourite places to eat! Best Caesar salad ever. The entire family always makes us feel like we’re dining in their home and Cameron is a doll! Just love going there.

Their pecan chicken and lamb are “to die for”. We have been there many times, but I keep ordering the same thing, because I just can’t get enough of it. I am sure everything on the menu is delicious. Save room for dessert.
